It had measurable targets by the people that designed them, same as the Tremor units above the FX4s. The FX4s have something of an extra internal bypass function that increased their ability by a significant amount.

Why wouldnt you wait for the Tremor units with the built in 1" lift?

Until a pokey stick puts your truck in the shop for 2 weeks.

Would love to see some video of that action. But also with the effort to install the rear diff, I think that effort could be put into cooling and air bags for the rear to increase the towing ability of the Tremor even if its not the ratings. I mean we are talking about 4k max here which in the normal truck world is pretty much not even a afterthought. I have towed heavier with home built hitches. As long as the trans stays cool, I would tow under 4k any day. I have towed more with a CJ5 in the hills with a MT and 107 hp.
It's not whether a 2k Maverick can mechanically handle 4k it's about the GVWR rating, legality and liability.

Why anyone who plans to tow regularly wouldn't pay a lousy $800 to DOUBLE the tow rating of the vehicle is beyond me. IMO, it's probably the most practical option offered on the Maverick.

Well until we know exactly what the suspensions are part wise on the Tremor package this will get you from point to A to point B on an existing 2022 build for an AWD or 2.0L FWD suspension to an AWD w/FX4 if you wanted to change the shocks yourself. It will also give an indication why they won't offer 4k towing on Tremor and it will also give us an indication if AWD is in the works for hybrids if the Tremor does come with a force vector spring style suspension.

I agree its a great deal, especially with the gear change. I need the lift and approach angle to get to my house without blemishes, though I would like the extra of the 4K package. With my current unscheduled FX4K(the best moniker ever) I will have to put a lift on it immediately and probably trim the bumper lips after 1 week. With the Tremor not having those problems and having the "locker" and the trail control which will make it easier for my wife or mother-in law to climb our driveway. I have a metaphysical connection to all the inputs that control a vehicle so I just scoot up but if anyone else has to drive it I dont want them scraping or slipping and getting nervous and rolling it off the side of the switchback(which is the steepest part of the driveway and also cut to use momentum to get up it).

But yeah literally every AWD Maverick buyer that isnt a fuel miser should get the 4K unless they need the Tremor.

As for the legal liable aspect. Lots of uses in different localities are subject to different things, and then there is enforcement, and then the fact that anyone towing who isnt driving extra cautious and at much lower speeds than is legal, should exit the vehicle immediately, because they are time bomb. Where I currently live and where I am from, no officers pull over trailers unless they are loaded horribly. Even if they did they wouldnt check or ask the weight unless it was comically overmatched to your vehicle. Like a car hauler towed by a compact or subaru. Most people out here dont even register trailers. If you tow a camper sure you should be legal going over state lines but its rarely more than a civil fine if you are a little over weight. I know I am legally in the wrong but in this day of such divisiveness around this country I dont think too many are focused on things like that.

Really torn between ordering fx4 + 4k tow vs Tremor. The only part of the Tremor I really want is that double clutch rear for the "4wd" lock and rear locker modes but only for steep icy driveway and getting stuck in snow. Got dirtbikes for offroading. Anyone have experience with the bronco bs version? Is it worth it to give up the 3.81 gear ratio and tow capacity living in the mountains where steep grades, deep snow and ice are the norm? I'd normally tow 1t of pellets for my stove on a 550-600 lb trailer but maybe could retrofit in the future or just accept only my diesel x5 would tow over 2k? Thoughts?
Is it not possible to get tremor with 4k?

You can get the shocks and add them yourself as far as the springs goes this is what I found.

You have level 1 and level 2 rear springs upon looking around my conclusion is level 1 springs are for FWD vehicles and level 2 springs for AWD. The level 1 and 2 I have so far concluded is whether they are force vectoring springs or not. Level 1 suspensions are based upon force vector springs and level 2 regular coil spring design. From reading this is the supposed hold up from offering AWD on the hybrid trucks and also the reason for lack of 4k towing with FWD.

https://www.musclecarsandtrucks.com/ford-maverick-hybrid-suspension-force-vectoring-fiesta-st/

The rear shocks on the other hand come in 3 variaties.

Level 1 shocks. These should be only for FWD vehicles
NZ6Z18125C

Then level 2 shocks

For AWD without FX4
NZ6Z18125A
these run about ~$175 each if you buy directly from the dealer and abour ~$195 each from parts.ford.com

For AWD with FX4
NZ6Z18125B
these run about ~$185 each if you buy directly from the dealer and about ~$205 each from parts.ford.com

Swapping out your shocks and new nuts and bolts assuming you already have an AWD to NZ6Z18125B should cost about ~$400 to upgrade to what is in the FX4 package if you do the work yourself.
To add to this there are actually 4 options for shocks. I missed the this one on my initial search.

FWD twin tube shocks for 2.5L hybrid are motorcraft part number NZ6Z18125D

FWD twin tube shocks for 2.0L ecoboost are motorcraft part number NZ6Z18125C

These are not interchangeable between the engines according the parts catalog and only for FWD vehicles

AWD on the other hand.

AWD twin tube shocks are motorcraft part number NZ6Z18125A

The AWD monotube shocks which are on the FX4 package are motorcraft part number NZ6Z18125B

The parts catalogs say they are interchangeable between AWD and FWD for these but only on 2.0L ecoboost engines.

As of now, no the Tremor will not be offered with the 4k tow as an option. The extra cooling capacity, ability to tow 1 ton on my trailer, and plethora of good reports on the awd system have swayed me to the 4k option. Doesn't hurt that I love the brown lariat interior :) I'll buy a set of steelies with snow tires and decide if I want to add a $200-300 lift kit down the road based on how we use the truck

Good stuff. I love the 4k setup so far. I’m at about 6k miles with mine now. Really quite a quick little truck with the gear ratios. Kinda feels like a hot hatch… except it corners like a truck lol

I don't remember 4k tow ever being constrained. Now they did stop offering it on the FWD pretty early on in ordering process, so people who tried to add it on their FWD build couldn't get it and may have taken that as constrained?
If I remember right.. Ford announced that people shouldn't of been able to order a fwd with 4k.. So the People who orders were placed like that and didn't get noticed would be getting a upgrade to awd at no cost to them.. Cuz the orders shouldn't of been able to be made like that.. I rember telling the wife that f-ing sucks I have to pay for it.... They should of had 2 options take off 4k. Or pay for awd to keep the 4k

Am I missing something? I don’t see anywhere on the order guide that says the Tremor trim truck needs to also have the 500A add-on.

IMO, it's the ground clearance/angles that really hold back the Maverick. It has a pretty robust AWD system.
I agree. The AWD system on the Mav kicks ass. If you’re really worried about ground clearance a lift and bigger tires with Fx4 is probably what you want. The tremor package is fine, but 235/65 tires and an extra inch of lift is still less than the 246/65 or 245/70’s other people are running on 1.5 or 2 inch lifts. Just my opinion, get what makes you happy!

I have fx4 and 4k tow.

Difference is 1 inch clearance so 9.3 vs 8.. then you also got the front bumper plastic it's flat and angled which would help get it over washouts.

You could go a readylift 1.5 sst lift kit I went that route.

For traction I changed the tires to tpyo at 3 (235 65 r15) tires.

Don't really need the locking rear that uses a clutch to lock up it tends to heat up and slip look into bronco sport over hearing with the dual clutch.

If you need a locker just go with a ranger tremor package. Even more clearance better 4x4 drive train but it burns more gas

DrivingSportsTV on YouTube put the FX4 4k to the test and ended up buying a Ranger because it couldn’t cut it off-road.

Lacking ground clearance. Better tires and it does fine
