They didn't do a great job of making the fx4 package actually making the vehicle better off road, particularly if you were getting 4k. If you have 4kj It's basically an appearance package.

Honestly that's what I bought it for - saw the fx4 wheels on a mav on the dealer lot and fell in love. Still think they're some of the best looking wheels on the road period. $800 really isn't a bad deal for rims, skid plate and a bigger screen, but if I had to do it over I'd probably drop fx4 entirely. Then again, I really liked the wheels - gives my shadow black mav a blackout look.
Upgraded shocks on FX4- at least.

The FX4 Package also gives you the front tow hooks, the Hill Descent Control and monotube rear shocks. Standard AWD and Tow Package have twin-tube rear shocks.

Yeah, I know, it's on my truck. Those are kind of minor IMO.

I’m looking at the Tremor for cosmetics mostly. I like the fact that there is a lift and what not mechanically, but I really like the black leather seats. Plus, I like the Avalanche Grey. Not sure if that color is specific to Tremor or not yet.

IMO, it's the ground clearance/angles that really hold back the Maverick. It has a pretty robust AWD system.
And hopefully some manufacturers will step up to redesign th

you say it’s minor but add up the cost of everything included in the $800 FX4 package. Easily worth $800.

I just don't see them as essential. 4k towing means AWD along with the fan, radiator and transmission cooler not to mention the drive ratio.

The FX4 package stand alone is a good deal. As an add on to 4k towing it's more of an appearance package.

FX4 also brings the larger gauge cluster screen to those not married to Lariat trim- No way was I going to stare at that tiny 4 inch thing for the rest of my life- lol

You can get the shocks and add them yourself as far as the springs goes this is what I found.

You have level 1 and level 2 rear springs upon looking around my conclusion is level 1 springs are for FWD vehicles and level 2 springs for AWD. The level 1 and 2 I have so far concluded is whether they are force vectoring springs or not. Level 1 suspensions are based upon force vector springs and level 2 regular coil spring design. From reading this is the supposed hold up from offering AWD on the hybrid trucks and also the reason for lack of 4k towing with FWD.

The rear shocks on the other hand come in 3 variaties.

Level 1 shocks. These should be only for FWD vehicles
NZ6Z18125C

Then level 2 shocks

For AWD without FX4
NZ6Z18125A
these run about ~$175 each if you buy directly from the dealer and abour ~$195 each from parts.ford.com

For AWD with FX4
NZ6Z18125B
these run about ~$185 each if you buy directly from the dealer and about ~$205 each from parts.ford.com

Swapping out your shocks and new nuts and bolts assuming you already have an AWD to NZ6Z18125B should cost about ~$400 to upgrade to what is in the FX4 package if you do the work yourself.

So half the price of the FX4 package at 1/10 of the package contents?

Pass and just get Fx4.

Not a viable option for an XL trim and you have to pony up around 3k to get to the next trim level first before factoring in the FX4 package price. Higher trim levels yeah I would agree otherwise.

Supposedly. Not sure it's a significant upgrade.
It had measurable targets by the people that designed them, same as the Tremor units above the FX4s. The FX4s have something of an extra internal bypass function that increased their ability by a significant amount.

Why wouldnt you wait for the Tremor units with the built in 1" lift?

Also minor.
Until a pokey stick puts your truck in the shop for 2 weeks.
having the opportunity to drive both a Bronco sport badlands (cousins) and my FX4 4k in similar shity conditions on the farm and acreage i would say that the dual clutch isn't very necessary over the rear end in mav. neither vehicle gets stuck and at the end of the day if you need to tow I would go FX4 4K and then if you really want you can buy the dual clutch and have it installed then you can get all the extras with forscan and installing 2 switches. If you really think you need the locking capability.
Would love to see some video of that action. But also with the effort to install the rear diff, I think that effort could be put into cooling and air bags for the rear to increase the towing ability of the Tremor even if its not the ratings. I mean we are talking about 4k max here which in the normal truck world is pretty much not even a afterthought. I have towed heavier with home built hitches. As long as the trans stays cool, I would tow under 4k any day. I have towed more with a CJ5 in the hills with a MT and 107 hp.
