Please see post #2I'm okay with that. Only what would they go to? It might just get weirder.

I don't know what model you have but my XLT has p-R-N-D-L on my display, And my BIG Gripe is the brakes grabbing with a mind of their own at low speeds I've found that in stop & go traffic putting the truck in low gear helps. But that's not the point, I keep grumbling to my my service advisor so maybe Ford will figure out the problem I have 3K miles on it and still not happy with the brakes. That is my biggest complaint about my Hybrid!!!!Why not get rid of the useless rotary shifter. If a real shifter is too much money. Put the P-R-N-D-L on the LCD screen. Once keys goes in or you push the start button this selection lights up. Make your choice.
The 8 speed could then have a Manual option with paddle shifters.
This may free up some room on the console area. Plus one less piece of hardware to pay for.
He was saying he wants the shifter integrated into the touch screen. Now, this is a horrible idea and I'm not endorsing it, just clarifying what he meant.I don't know what model you have but my XLT has p-R-N-D-L on my display
I was thinking of screen over center stack. One could make their gear selection choice there instead of shifter.I don't know what model you have but my XLT has p-R-N-D-L on my display, And my BIG Gripe is the brakes grabbing with a mind of their own at low speeds I've found that in stop & go traffic putting the truck in low gear helps. I've been driving for a lot longer than you and would prefer crank windows. Ever try to go to a drive up bank or postal drop box and your window is frozen? Before electric windows I could reef in the handle an free the window. So now if the window is frozen I have to creep ahead a bit and open my door and sometimes even un-fasten my seat belt. I also prefer a key.I have been driving for 23 years and wouldnt buy it without a key, wish to god it had hand crank windows and only have to charge the battery in my phone every few days, since im not a teenager. I just have one of those talky type phones with the buttons.
Agree. Ford seems to be shifting away from them. New Ranger does not have it. If they do decide to keep it, do the Ram thing and put it on the dash. The rotary shifter knob IS a "real" shifter. It's just different. I would probably prefer the lever shifter but I'll get used to it.
I keep my cars for a long time. I know a window motor will go out and have never met a car that wasnt a pain in the but to replace em. Hand crank windows you may have to adjust some teeth in about 30 years. Having a key is just nice. Even if the remote lock battery dies you can still get in and start your truck.I've been driving for a lot longer than you and would prefer crank windows.
