They do look stupid. However, after 17 years in the Sonora Desert (both Arizona USA and Sonora MEX sides), I can confidently respond that they do help. I started applying that on my vehicles around 2007 (after holding out that first year because they look stupid) and can attest that they make a difference. And yes, I've also used dash covers and windshield shades (for parking)... You can imagine just how the strong the sun is here day in and day out.
Yes, it's not nearly such a big issue in Pennsylvania. And I won't be putting one of those giant black strips across the top of my windshield. However, I can certainly appreciate the practicality of it for folks in your climate.

Incidentally, I wouldn't mind some of that Arizona sun right about now...

Without taking this thread off topic too much... I'm spending a few months here in my modest home in Álamos Sonora.... but on Friday drove up to Tucson Arizona to shop for a new mattress and box spring combo (and other necessities) for my mamá on Saturday (she's going to spend about a month with us in Mexico). She flew in on Sunday from Virginia and we started the drive down back down to Álamos early Monday...

Normally she spends time with us in the winter in our Green Valley Arizona place before or after we've been in Mexico. However, our Álamos place is much more basic, so we decided it would be good to buy a few things to make her stay in our casita much more comfortable.

Well, there was no Arizona, nor Sonora, sunshine Sunday, nor Monday... and despite all of my preparations... the matress set got a bit wet from the 9 hours of driving in the steady rain (the protective plastics developed rips at some point in the journey). Man! So friends tell me if we ever need a break from the sunshine in the desert... just call on me to move furniture.... I'll bring the rain! Nothing like a few water stains on a new mattress.... years of explaining to folks that no one has wet the bed in the guest room....

Back to the thread...Seems like I'd add an inexpensive subwoofer and replace the dash tweeters, door speakers and rear speakers. There are some very nice detailed build theads here on MTC for inexpensive audio upgrades for the poorish XL/XLT systems.

Have a tinted curtain put on the windshield when you get the front windows tinted. $50 more or less.
Do you have a photo of this? Someone mentioned that it look "stupid", but it did help with the heat.

I can't believe it, my Maverick has shipped! No idea when it's going to arrive at the dealer (mid-Feb?) but I want to be prepared.

I'm looking at:
Did I miss anything?
Mud flaps, sure. Tailgate lock is a waste because the tailgate locks with the fob. Unless you plan on leaving it down unattended it can't be stolen. Cargo rails are a good idea. I got smartliners instead of weatherbeaters - they fit well and they are $35 cheaper. Phone mount needs to be what works best for you - if that works go for it. Tailgate assist is a complete waste IMO because the tailgate is so light it's not really an issue. You also have to lose one of the tie downs to mount it. Tint/wrap to your hearts content.

Get a center console organizer IMO it's a glaring oversight not to have one.

These things are under rated. They squeeze between the seat and console and you can either stash stuff in there or just leave them there to catch the random stuff that falls down there. amazon.com/gp/product/B0976HVB44
