Keeps the tailgate from slamming down when you open it.
I always thought that's what my hands/arms were for :ROFLMAO: How in the world did people manage before this necessity?

That's true. I'd say the one thing I don't like about the Maverick (Or more accurately, the thing I wish it was more of) is that it's a 'Lowercase h' hybrid. It would be nice for it to have have a bigger battery/electric motor, maybe even going all the way to being a plug-in.

But of course, that's easily an extra 2-5 grand added to the price floor of the Maverick, taking away one of its nicer charms and making it far harder to choose over the already available crossover/SUV type hybrids I could go and find on a lot today (Or at least find on a current production list anyway).

Everything is a compromise. Half of buying a new vehicle is getting over it.
I completely agree. It would be nice to see those things and chances are they will show up as an option in the future. I don’t think Ford was expecting this truck to be such a big hit. So it made sense to not go all out in case it flopped.

The in trunk bed is another thing (plus the tailgate damper) that I like about the SC.
And somehow they managed to put in the trunk...with a spare tire under it!
Yes, but the in-bed trunk requires a drop-in bedliner as opposed to a more durable spray-in (trust me from my Ridgeline)

Also, the SC didn't adopt the 2-way tailgate (ironically patented by Ford back in 1966 for station wagons) which makes getting things into and out of the trunk much more difficult. Access to the in-bed trunk is the reason Honda made the two-way tailgate standard.

Y’all are entertaining. You want a cheap truck but want the features of a more expensive truck. Sure there’s some things that would be nice but at the end of the day it’s a $20K-$30K truck. The more available options there are, even if you don’t opt for them, the more complex the manufacturing becomes increasing cost.
I don't think so.. Ford already offers a loaded Lariat in the $36-37K range with a "Timberline" or "Tremor" off-road variant coming.

I'm thinking that what you'll see if the Mav is a huge success is an all-electric version. Ford already confirmed that they are working on an all-electric version of the upcoming 2023 Ranger.

I can appreciate the decision to offer one interior color per trim level from a cost standpoint, but Ford could have chosen more neutral colors to better match the variety of exterior colors offered.

I'm short, this is likely where my folded sunglasses will go because I probably can't see/reach them if I put them in the top cubby. I hope they fit, because otherwise that side cubby is good for nothing!

Everything doesn't have to be boring grey or black.. I think that's what they were going for. Something different that catches the eye. They are also targeting the younger demo who generally like bolder colors.

I had it on my 2 previous trucks. My current truck does not. I inadvertently slam the tailgate on a daily basis. You would think I’d learn.

Ford had stated that they were trying to target a younger crowd and I think that’s why the interior has a unique look. I personally like the way the XLT looks inside.

A bigger screen and the tailgate should be damper.

I haven’t been spoiled enough to open one of those fancy dampened tailgates. My F100 stepside has a latch on each side and you have to hook the chains yourself before you can lower it 😂

Regarding the interior, I wish I could opt into that color on the XL. And I wish I could get Cyber Orange on the XL as well. I know a lot of people think it's an obnoxious color and there's a lot of judgements people make, but orange just tickles some part of my brain and I love it. But I can't justify the +3k it takes to get there.

I do not like the license plate being off to the side

I understand they're going after the younger demographic with brighter colors. I just think it's more difficult to pull off with only one choice for a multitude of exterior colors.
