Rainy season in my area has just begun and with that I've noticed that the wipers on my truck seem to jerk and thump at the end of their downward motion - see video below. This only happens in the variable speed mode, the continuous high speed modes have a smooth motion. I had never experienced jerkiness like that from any other cars I've driven, is this normal or should I go get it checked out at the dealer?

Yep, not normal. Mine are smooth action, and slowly tuck away when off. Not a single noise, clunk, or anything like what you have there.

Looks like passenger side is hitting windshield molding. I bet they put the wipers on wrong. The longer one (22") goes on driver side, shorter one (21") goes on passenger side.

Try swapping sides. Passenger side looks long as they have said.

Thank you all for your input. The longer blade is correctly installed in the driver's side, and after checking the motion from outside neither blade is hitting anything in there travel. Seems like the wiper motors or gears are at fault here.

Hello there! Could you please send over a private message with your VIN and the name/location of your local Ford dealer? I would like to get to the bottom of your Maverick's wiper concerns!

Most likely a bad wiper motor.

Mine is exactly the same. I am pretty sure we have a build of road oils/grime etc right at the bottom edge of where the wipers stop and go the other direction during normal wiper operation. When the wiper is intermittent mode like that it drops just below the line it stops at when in normal operation. I am going to trying cleaning my glass and blades tonight with alcohol in the area it chatters like that to see if it fixes it.

cleaned my wiper park area quickly and the studder is half gone. I think I need to try cleaning it and the blades better

I have had this issue for a few months on my Maverick as well. it’s incredibly annoying as it chirps and squeaks sometimes. It only happens with the wipers on intermittent settings. Low or high speed continuous setting works fine, no issue and single wipe no issue either. Only happens when the blades are trying to park in the slightly up position from using the intermittent settings.

I’ve cleaned the windshield several times, tried some slick drying aid topper I use on the paint too, and nothing has fixed it. Cleaned the blades once as well. Use the same cleaning products on my other cars with no issues. Next step I’m going to try is compounding/polishing the windshield to make sure nothing is on it somehow causing this.
