6/6/2023 Update. Dealer says THIS is "normal". He's got two hybrids in the shop right now (no surprise there) and both do this.

What are the chances he's got TWO ABNORMAL Mavericks at the same time?

I thought when you start a Hybrid, the ICE does not start. You just take off in electric mode. After you put in gear, it looks like one or more of your motor mounts is broke/loose??

It will start the gas if you flick the accelerator beyond about 25%.

It will start the gas engine even in Park because there are times you may want this, like to make heat to defrost, or to make videos.

Made a service appt minutes after filming. Dropped it off 15 minutes before closing. No mechanics still on the clock tonight. Service advisor was not shocked. Was nice to me, but not shocked to see it. Was like: "Yup. Seen that before, but usually in (xy%}|x)'s" I forget which.

There is a thread where someone posted he took his in claiming, I believe, that he had clunking upon braking and the tech wound up replacing his motor mounts because of a defective roll restrictor. However I don't believe it's your roll restrictor or at least your motor mounts are not loose and clunking yet. My hood will lift up if I put mine in drive before I turn off my manually set brake as the torque is transferred to drive train and the electric creep mode is being held by the electric brake, I assume at the wheels but where I don't know.
I usually notice hood rise when I start to apply throttle so maybe just the creep just just rocks the engine but I have gotten used to turning electric brake off before shifting to drive.
