I have an XLT, and the dial shifter is close to the same size as the fan control switch. More than once I have tried to shift from drive to reverse, or back again, and changed the fan speed instead. Yes, I know I should look. But it’s a shock when you think you’re in reverse and the truck goes forward.
One way for Ford to address this would be to make the twisting force required to change gears much higher than the effort required to change the fan speed. Some kind of tactile feedback is needed.
I love the truck overall but this is one thing I think should be addressed.
they are in different locations… I think this is a personal issue.

I have yet to have an opportunity to experience the dial shifter, but I think it looks better than a steering column shifter. Steering column shifters seem old fashioned especially how they mechanically clunk into gear.

Theres been a few times I've reached for something while driving and accidentally shift into Neutral. A bit scary when it happens at highway speeds and the engine just revs. A bit too sensitive if you ask me. I miss having a console shifter.
Did this really happen? I would've assumed the safety nannies would disable the rotary knob after a certain speed is reached. My push button shifting Honda Pilot won't react if you hit a button going down the highway. It actually won't react if you don't have light pressure on the brake pedal as well, even if sitting still, except neutral, which you have to push & hold.

I like the dial. Makes much more sense to me than all these automatics with pretend stick-shift thing or whatever is going on there. I also like that it takes up less space and is not as intrusive as a center console shifter. I'd been happy with the push-button shifter like the Ridgeline's, too.

I don't have the truck yet but it would be great if it stoped rotating once it was in drive and the same once it hits park. Then you wouldn't need to look down.

Don't even need to look down. There's a PRNDL display on the instrument cluster screen.

I know but it would still be nice to not need to look at anything.

It’s a little weird. My wife’s Eco has the handle and it feels like this feature should be swapped between the two cars. First two times driving it after driving hers threw me off.

My two biggest takeaways are dogs are everywhere and if we don’t all have the same opinion then prepare to be bashed.

My new Sonata has push button, got use to it in about 5 minutes, so dial should be ok.
