Been 8 months for me with no build date from Ford. Spoke with my Hyundai dealer while having wife’s car serviced yesterday. Offered no markup deal on Santa Cruz he had in stock. Told him hybrid was more important to me than AWD. He said Hyundai is aware of demand for Maverick hybrid and will have a SC hybrid on market very soon. Beginning to think it’ll probably be available before I ever see my Maverick
Agreed

I owned a Sonata PHEV. Loved it. I would have gravitated to the Santa Cruz had they offered PHEV, but then again, the price point would have been much more than the Maverick Hybrid which uses close-to the same technology as a PHEV without the plug (Motor Generator acts like the PlugIn portion).

Ford Maverick Doubles Hyundai Santa Cruz Sales

Ford Maverick Doubles Hyundai Santa Cruz Sales

Ford's Q1 sales report shows it has moved 19,245 Mavericks through March, while precisely 8,400 Hyundai Santa Cruzes were sold during the same period. This is significant given that these two are by far the most direct rivals with unibodies, four-cylinder engines, and front-wheel drive as well as all-wheel drive. And if you're curious about the Honda Ridgeline, people bought 9,189 of 'em.

I didn’t know this, but I too would pick that version Santa Cruz over the maverick if I could get it in Tennessee.
Just looked this up... It's true... They also get the "Ultimate" which looks like a "Limited" with Surround view camera, etc... For like $5000 less (<$36k usd).

Found a Canadian dealer with an Ultimate with cooled seats for less than my local dealer is charging for a no-upgrades SEL.
What the F?

Edit: And looks like CA prices include the delivery fees... so another $1300 cheaper!

I’ve noticed that when Hyundai runs SC ads on Facebook it gets hammered pretty good in the comments.
FWIW I happened to mention to my 23 year old daughter that I might look at a SC and she pulled up a picture on her phone and said “ooh no”.

Consider that HyundaI tells the US Government that the Santa Cruz is a SUV, whereas Ford tells the Government that the Maverick is a pickup truck. Tells you how their manufacturers see two similar vehicles differently. So Hyundai should not be taking jabs at the Maverick since they do not consider the two to be in the same class.

Not exactly a very exciting piece, is it?

Honestly, I don't see any sense in a comparison ad when the Maverick isn't even readily available outside of special orders.
Not true my dealer here in Hawaii has no less than 6 Eco boost mavericks they brought in and are for sale directly to the public, With a reasonable $2200 mark up

Looks like Ford Canada just came out with an ad for potential SC buyers.

The SC looks more like the forgettable Subaru Brat.

Must not be forgettable, you still remember it. Others do too.

Maverick on the other hand after it fades into just becoming another boring choice among others just might be the forgettable one.

C'mon, by accident the Mav will sell more than the Brat ever dreamed of. However, you're partially correct the Mav will fall into being a ubiquitous unremarkable vehicle that you see everyday like the Ranger is/was.

Hey, everyone remembers the Matrix and the Aztec as well. I'd much rather mine be forgotten than to be remembered for how ugly is it, lol. 🤣

Didn’t say the maverick wouldn’t outsell the brat, as I’m sure it will too. Foreign cars don’t have the stigma they had when the brat came onto the scene. However the brat regardless what you think of it is a noticeable vehicle. The maverick in three or four years won’t be and will just fade into the rest
