I agree completely, I don't have anything against EV's, but up here in the frozen waste lands of Maine where chargers a few and far between I prefer to have my own onboard charging device, So hybrid it is for me.

I sold mine in January because of the battery recall, reduced range capabilities, too small area to haul stuff, rear seats that don’t fold down flat, no spare tire, easily dented body and more road noise than I could handle! Forgot to mention the number of times the battery died! The best thing about that car was the “jackrabbit” starts at a traffic light

I'm curious as to why you wouldn't take possession of the Maverick and then immediately sell it. They are in high demand and even Carmax and similar places are giving well over MSRP. Make a few thousand yourself instead of letting the dealership make it.
Maybe the new Kona’s can tow but the 2019 was a definite no tow capabilities!

I feel like I hit the jackpot with my Maverick Lariat which is so much quieter, has as many if not more bells and whistles, can load all kinds of stuff and still have a back seat and made $10,000 (difference between what I sold the Kona for and bought my FE Lariat) which will pay for a lot of gas!

One taste of Vegemite was a lifetime supply for me ...I had a similar dilemma and choice to make. I ordered my Ford Maverick Hybrid last June, sight unseen. I'd had a hybrid previously and was inspired that a small pickup (that actually looks like a pickup truck) would be created with a hybrid power train. Waiting the 8 months for delivery gave me plenty of time to consider alternatives that might result in a better outcome than waiting for a vehicle I'd never even experienced in real life.
While I was considering alternatives and weighing cost versus benefit, I encountered an offer that was almost unreal. If I decided not to take my Maverick after waiting so long, I knew that the dealer would be happy to resell and tack on a hefty ADM. Still, would I regret my decision later if I decided to go with an alternative? My choice was clear - continue to wait for and receive my Maverick Hybrid Lariat as ordered, or opt instead for a lifetime supply of Vegemite. I admit there was no shortage of sleepless nights while I tossed and turned, lost in the throws of indecision.
Then it happened that I passed an actual Ford Maverick on the street. I was able to see the size in proportion to other vehicles and also the smile on the driver's face as they silently pulled away from the stoplight in their hybrid pickup truck. I went home and did a little more research online and discovered that the majority of Ford Maverick owners love their vehicles, while feedback from people who have tried Vegemite have shown a much lower percentage of people who provided positive feedback. The evidence leaned heavily on the Maverick being the smarter choice.
Needless to say I received my Maverick Lariat Hybrid Pickup in late March and am happy that I made what I consider to be the better choice!
I noticed that the cost of electricity to charge EVs is not mentioned when the cost of gasoline for hybrids is brought up. I considered a Tesla when you could get in one for around 35G. I commute about 130 miles round trip daily, and after considering the cost of the charging system and then the kwh to charge the vehicle, there was no advantage. That was when gasoline was much less expensive so it might be a different story now.
Sounds like a Rav4 Prime could be a good fit for your needs. Obviously, it's easier said than done. But if you can take delivery of your Mav, sell the Mav for a little profit to go towards the higher cost of the prime, then when the Prime finally comes take advantage of the [up to] $7500 tax credit. Then you got a reliable vehicle, your electric only range for short commutes, your hybrid capability for longer trips, and a climate controlled interior for sleeping.
