Not exactly "brake hold" is the one by itself above the 3.
What? The one above by itself is the electronic parking brake. Auto Hold and Brake Hold are the same thing. Apparently Ford refers to it as "Auto Hold" and other manufacturers say "Brake Hold" but it is the same thing.

The descriptions I gave OP were 100% correct.

Somebody else verify.
Please please PLEASE tell us you made her stand behind the truck to figure this out. hahahaha

No, I get a bang/chirping sound when I hit the button and go into reverse. That's the only time I hear any sound in reverse. I'm going to take my wife out to verify. When I open the door to hear the noise it stops.
Dude, before eeveryone statrts ragging on you read your owners manual.

Ok went for 6.8 mile trip (got 55.4 mpg) the one above is the electronic parking brake and if applied it will hold the mav still in drive or reverse and will auto release when go pedal is pushed. In drive the brake is set and the front of vehicle rises and in reverse it lowers (am assuming that auto creep is still activated). When go pedal releases parking brake as well as starts increasing torque the mav will lurch some. I was very light footed and noticed the lurch but did not have a clunk noise some are complaining about. Maybe if I pressed pedal more firmly the clunk would also appear. I suspect those complaining are applying parking brake, as was I, and not liking the way "auto hold" was acting. The third button from the left is apparently the infamous "auto hold" and apparently works by turning off the default creep mode and does not actually set the brake. When go pedal is pushed the mav then starts rolling and does not lurch as it does when using parking brake. Thanks for your help!

Auto Hold does apply the brakes and hold them, but only after you bring the vehicle to a complete stop.

Pressing the button while moving just turns the system on, so that it functions when next you stop.

See this description in the manual at p. 198. My experience with it tracks what the manual says.

According to manual it does release the brakes so then the question is "How does the parking brake function differ from the auto hold function?". Leave the auto hold in the off position and when stopped turn the parking brake on and then release the brake pedal. Watch the hood and notice that the hood in relation to the surroundings appears to rise when in drive (if in reverse it slightly dips down). I take this to mean that creep mode is attempting to move mav but if using the auto hold function this does not happen,. So it appears that the difference in the two functions must be the auto hold turns off the auto creep and the parking brake does not turn auto creep off. Will not be an issue as I will not ever set the parking brake other than when parking on a hill or if I do I will manually turn it off before moving the accelerator pedal. Maybe the computer program needs "tweaking"?

Wow I first saw this thread when there were only three posts.
Surprised/not surprised it’s now three pages!

I turned off the auto hold before I left the dealership, found it way too twitchy for parking, probably won’t use it again unless I’m in a traffic jam inside a multilevel parking garage.

The important difference between Auto Hold and the Parking Brake is that, while Auto Hold is active, it automatically holds the brake whenever you come to a stop with sufficient brake pressure. Then it releases when you press the accelerator.

This means that when you stop you can take your foot off the brake without creeping or rolling down a hill. You just have to turn it on, you don't have to hit the switch at every stop.

Even when my Maverick arrives in 2027, it is sounding way more complicated to drive than needed. Heck, I have never even had an ATM card. Anybody know how to put the dashboard from the original Maverick into this one. I am going to put orange tape over everything except the heat, air conditioner, and radio knobs. Throw a bandana over that stupid video screen.

Isn’t it still called a parking brake or is this different ? Never had brake hold

edit. Just looked this up.

So it’s for if you’re too fucking lazy to hold the brake at a stoplight ???? Would not trust that.

If the truck is a hybrid the bell sound in reverse is the required audio warning for sight impaired persons to know that a vehicle is near because the electric motor is so quite. The button is brake hold.

Problem resolved, didn't want to do this but I did a master reset in settings and everything works including the brake hold. Unfortunately, I need to put all my settings back in. Thankfully, Ford gave us a in truck bailout instead of running to the dealer every time a software error rears its ugly head.
How do you do a master reset? Never heard of that… maybe it’ll fix my issues too

Auto Hold is useful in places where you don't want to move to Park, but need to stand on the brakes for awhile. Like a drive-thru restaurant line. I turn it on when I pull up in line. Turn it off when I leave the line. That way I do not need to move into P and flash my reverse lights for a second to the person behind me. It hold me in place when I move up to the next position. You can just stand on your brake pedal, but you may accidentally creep.

It's quite convenient for this type of scenario and somewhat safer. But I do not just leave it on, as I do a lot of slow crawl/creeping throughout my day. Don't want to lose that function. But I do use my auto hold probably 3-5x per week. Most people won't want it or need it. Just keep it off then. I like it.

So you are going to wait until you are on an upper floor of a parking garage to use the auto hold "twitchiness"?🤗
