I had my 23 Maverick at the dealer recently for deep sleep issues but it wasn't currently in deep sleep. I was in the waiting area and passing time by scrolling on my phone. I opened the Ford app and all features looked to be available. Lock/unlock and remote start included.

I would never try either while anyone was working on my truck, but could I?

It's normal to plug a jump starter while in service to prevent a battery draining

Yep you can mess with them if you choose. I sold my Bronco to Carmax and didn't disconnect FordPass so every couple hours for the next 2 days I would unlock/lock, remote start, etc until they cleared me out.

My dealer had my maverick on and off for 3 weeks connectivity issues . I at one point got it back connected to the vehicle they couldn’t doing all the things I could and even went by the dealership and retrieved some personal belongings . Whole time they said they could connect to their WiFi for engineering team well service was using wrong WiFi and wrong pass word …. A little off track but yes I would especially if they are wasting your time and you see the options available . It’s not in deep sleep mode if you can emote start stop and or open doors!! My 2 cents!

Interesting. I would assume they have a way to block you from remote starting while they work on it. Wouldn’t want it starting up on a lift or without oil. The hood up would block it, maybe that’s protocol regardless of the work being done.

We had an Escape before the Maverick.
Just after we got the Maverick I logged into the Ford Pass app and could see both. Followed the Escape for about a month till they sold it. Someone from the dealership has driven a fair amount as it was used for about a 100 mile commute!

To remote start the doors need to be locked.

All they have to do is keep the doors unlocked. Or keep a door open. Or keep the hood open (I think on that last one.)

I was able to lock/unlock and remote start a Chevy I sold for THREE YEARS after I sold it.

And I sold it (traded in) to a Dealer, not a private party. Dealer never erased the account. And new owner (apparently) never set up an account. I COULD ALSO see the vehicle moving on a map via GPS. It was 500 miles away.

I knew where the car lived, and worked.

It was a curiosity. Other than doing an unforced entry to steal something (I never would) not much use for the info. You can't shift the vehicle out of park without a physical key.

For a while I would set off the panic alarm at 10pm while the vehicle was parked. Hoping the new owner would catch on and realize it, or take it to a dealer "customer states horn goes off at exactly 10pm each night" and the dealer would clear the memory / account.

But they never did. I gave up.
