To the people with the clicking by the dash on uneven road. I have a feeling it’s the windshield. I noticed tonight above my pass wiper two horizontal lines about 10-12 inches long. I can’t feel them with my nail but they look like they may be cracks. Idk if anyone else has these on their mavs. I pushed on the outside of the glass under the hood and hear an audible click.

Agreed—- this is a glass/windshield issue… today it was horrible… same area of noise location.. temps were between 18-25F with light Breeze.

A video I took of mine. My phone picked it up really well. It’s not that loud in person.
Same, same, same! Ford needs to know and get involved… how can we better inform them just going to dealer is a slow and unsure process… this is exact same

Hey fellow Maverick owners—- I am thinking we open an investigation/complaint on NHTSA website regarding this…? I don’t want to cause anyone to get upset about this… but if we are all taking the truck into dealership, and having to wait to figure it out or find it… which doesn’t seem to be happening… maybe this could get us more attention and help? I believe that if this isn’t a structural issue or failure with the truck, then what would cause the flexing to the windshield? it has to be the windshield installation… (anything that involves this point) the two or three videos out there are exact to mine as well… I haven’t noticed it above 55F degrees… but it hasn’t been at or above that since buying the truck… it may not matter?? But it really is horrible when it’s -5 up to about 35F especially under 25F it’s super noisy. It isn’t the dash, or plastic pieces, this is the sound of glass being flexed/ or etc… had to have windshield replaced before for a similar issue on another car back in the day… I’m willing to put in the complaint… I’m open to suggestions… I can’t wait for our friend on this thread who has his at dealer for this…. To see what they say…! It’s a huge concern for me. Even if the truck was free…

I think maybe glass is fine, but a structure issue?? Saga continues.

@Ford Motor Company HELP US OUT ON THIS ONE! Please see the two or three videos of this noise/sound complaint!! We are all experiencing this, it’s a major concern, we believe it’s the windshield install or the surrounding components placing undo pressure on the windshield. Please make sure we don’t have a major structural issue or concern that could compromise safety!

Some may say —“it’s just a silly noise that can be covered by the radio, or, it’s not a big deal just have a new windshield put in”!! I say, why is it when we are going over the washboard or lumpy road surfaces, there is something flexing or moving around to the point of hitting up against and putting strain/pressure on windshield!?!?!? I get there needs to be flex and movement within a certain safe range. But the noises and issues are adding up!!

***PS… PLEASE CAN WE NOT MAKE THIS ABOUT “HOW CHEAP” “BUDGET TRUCK” “$20k…more like 30-40$k” “YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR” issue!!! I paid $33,500.00 for mine…some paid 20-22$k, some paid $42-46k… doesn’t matter… New truck, with warranty, “built Ford tough” we want it to mean something.

Just replying to say I have the same rattle as shown in the posted videos in my Maverick XLT Hybrid.

I suspect most/all Macerick’s built so far have it. I first noticed it when driving in colder Weather on a modestly bumpy road.

I have not yet noticed it in warmer Weather on smooth roads.

I'll just chime in again with an update. I'm experiencing the similar symptoms as the videos that's been posted on this thread. Been happening since at least 200 miles and I'm at 2,000 miles now. I took it to the dealership early February where they "replaced" the windshield via a third party. I'm not sure if it was actually replaced it as there doesn't seem to be any difference and the windshield seems to have the same imperfections. (scratches, marks, etc.) The sound did not go away with this.

I also have the same lines that @ElectricCity8 has reported above at post #106. They were there
before the windshield replacement and afterwards.

I'll have the double check the speakers as someone else in the thread has mentioned, but to me it does seem to be coming from the dash/windshield area.

Another note, I have the moonroof on my Maverick. Not sure if others do as well.. trying to determine similarities between us affected folk.

Would love to see an end-all-be-all fix to this. Still ridiculous a number of us are dealing with this.

Sounds like they didn’t replace the windshield! Take a peak and picture of the bottom inside left of windshield. There are some stamped words and such there post it let me look at that. Because if it was replaced this will be different from mine….

Hello! This doesn't sound like an experience we want you to have with your Maverick. Could you please send us a PM with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer? I'd like to see how I can assist you on my end.

I feel the same way...new vehicles should be tight with no rattles. You might get a few as the vehicle ages...but this is bs on a new one.
Still driving my 18 year old Toyota Tundra Limited TRD OffRoad (just rolled over 74K miles) that I bought new, and it has never had a rattle/squeak.

I was looking forward to adding a Hybrid Maverick to my collection and doubling my gas mileage but I believe I'll wait a couple of years until it's more sorted (and ADM is just a memory)...

well… thought this could be colder temps related.. ugh not at all! It was 60-65 degrees all day today with sunny clear skies…. Didn’t hear anything… but I decided to turn off radio, outside air vent, and drive around town… it was very noisy!!!! Ticking, clicking, cracking like sound we all have and is in over three videos! I tried to get a video.. but I was alone driving, traffic sucked, and it wasn’t safe to do so… but this is for sure the windshield and or structure(s) flexing or putting pressure on the windshield… I’m putting the complaint on NHTSA for now… trying to work with my dealership but… it’s the ol’ operating to spec or fords aware and we have to hope they figure it out?? More to come… but wanted to say warmer temps don’t seem to help!

@Ford Motor Company there are a ton of us with this issue! It’s from what we can tell coming from the front windshield? Dealers are either confirming the noise, but won’t fix it, can’t fix it, or don’t know how as there not sure yet…? It’s as if the windshield installation was done with the wrong type/kind or quality of caulk/sealant/gluing material. The vehicle usually exhibits this at or below 75mph, and on any surface that isn’t super flat, smooth, and allows the vehicle to float naturally. If there is any washboard, wavy, or need for suspension/body float, flex, or travel, it’s clicking, popping, and ticking bad! If it’s not something that can be found, fixed, or resolved soon.. I am afraid it will cause myself and many Maverick owners to walk away, sell, or pursue reimbursement of purchase. We all love this truck and want it to be great and succeed!! Things happen, but we need it safe, we need it fixed, and we want to be proud of our trucks, enjoy them, no matter the sticker price! Whether $19,995.95 or $45,xxx.xx. I have to crank the radio and hvac controls to cover it up! It’s embarrassing and more than that… hoping it’s not a structural safety concern or glass that will suddenly break etc. thanks and please respond or give us a hand. Thanks Gabe proud Ford Maverick owner

Chiming in to say I have the same issue. I thought maybe it was my Dashcam cables that I ran up the A-pillar so I took those out. It still creaks. Also, I got a chip in the windshield and had it replaced and I’ve noticed no difference in the amount of creaking. So my issue is NOT directly related to the windshield itself. Also noticing it in warmer weather too, so there doesn’t seem to be a correlation with colder weather for mine.
