Just put a Muncie in it…or buy what you want instead of buying something you don’t want in the first place.
Who, in their right mind, would buy a brand new vehicle and want such a significant modification because it’s what you’re used to? Just buy the F150 and be done with it.
Hey Im working on making mine a convertible!

I like your videos but your downgrading the Maverick overall for having a dial shifter seems petty.

I mean every car/truck I have owned took some time to get used to where or what the shifter is.

On my Maverick it took about a week for me to stop trying to grab a shifter that was not there but now it is old hat to me just like the times it took me for any new vehicle that had a different location or type of shifter.

Again I don't see why the H A T E

IMHO any shifter placed in the console of a modern car is insanely stupid, unless it's a manual transmission. Today the only well-designed shifters for any kind (for an automatic) are column mounted shifters like the ID4 (and a few others), where a simple twist of a (hard-to-confuse) stalk changes gears. Twist forward to go forward. Twist back for reverse. Push to park. Ten second learning curve.

I've only owned manual shift cars for 50+ years now. 3 Miatas. Beetles. Karmann Ghias. VW Bus. An RX7-R1, a Ranger, and dozens of others I've long since forgotten. All manual transmissions. And all relics of a past age - just like me and all the other grouchy and inflexible Boomers on this forum. The future is here. It doesn't require a space-wasting testament to poor human factors design sitting on the console.

So trash the dial. Put a uniquely shaped shift stalk on the steering column, and open up that console space for something that's actually useful.

I would prefer a column shift. but not a twist, too complex. Just up and
down like the turn signal on the other side. I could also live with it being on the wheel itself. As buttons up and down. For safety you would want someones hands on the wheel while shifting right?

With a column shifter how could you implement the safety override that exists in the dial shifter for as little money as possible? I don't think you can. I think the choice to move to a dial shift knob has a dual benefit of being cost effective as easy to implement a shift override (open the door in drive with the vehicle stopped and it automatically goes to park)

That sounds like a crazy ass safety feature as I regularly drive with my doors open(for parking position while hooking up things or loading things). Anyways its all electric, there does not have to be any different safety feature changes. It would stay in place, you just click it up to shift one way, and down to shift the other way. Zero difference in the way it works from the dial. It would also use the same mechanical action as the turn signal on the other side of the column so the parts could be interchangable. Any buttons on the shifter dial could be replaced with the stalk operating like the multifunction wiper stalk.

Also all of it would be better/safer(hands on wheel) as a button on the wheel. Since it wont let you shift where it could cause damage or danger anyway because of the programming.

i would like to ask all, does anyone like the diel shift. i personally do not like it. so I am on a mission to see if there is a way to put a handheld shift like an f150. does anyone agree. thank you
I have had that style of shifter in my 2017 Fusion I bought brand new. I did not like it at all when I first bought the car but over the years I got used to it and actually like the extra room it gives me. Either shifter is now okay with me. It is just different and you will get used to it. You too may grow to appreciate the extra space it provides over time.

Overall not a big deal to me, but the dainty little dial in the center looks like it would be more at home in a little Lexus or Audi crossover. In a truck (even a small one) it seems out of place. If it must be a dial how about mounting it on the side of the steering column. Or a stalk that rotates like windshield wiper controls, except bigger and resembling a motorcycle throttle. 🙂 Those would be more appealing options, IMO.
