Im still saying I think it's related to the issue on mine with the bad 12v connection. A little update, the dealer is still waiting on a replacement wiring harness.
I have a feeling mine is also. Hopefully that replacement wiring harness was built correctly and doesn't cause the same issue. That would be a nightmare. I hope yours gets sorted out quickly.

Yeah, I already mentioned that to the dealer. Well see what happens.

Thank you, I hope yours does too.

Well, still no updates on the Maverick, it has been at the dealer now for 6 days and they barely got me a loaner vehicle today (Ecosport Titanium, NEVER BUY THIS CAR IT SUCKS lol). I asked my service advisor if they have made any progress and all he said was they need to contact a different Ford Tech department to diagnose my vehicle (I guess the techs at their dealership can't figure it out?).

Will keep updated.

It's gonna be something stupid like a cut or pinched wire somewhere feeding into the wrong module and the computer and programming has no idea what is going wrong. And probably saving the car from serious damage but leaving you without a running vehicle.

So the dealer called me today about mine. They said they have to have their loaner back (it's been since January 29th). They made a temporary repair to the wiring harness that was allegedly passed through Ford factory service and ok'd. It's safe to drive until the new wiring harness (which is in transit (MIA)) comes in. Once it does, I take it back for repair and was promised another loaner while the part is replaced. Hopefully the warranty covers any possible future issues.

UPDATE: Fixed for now at least, took it to the dealer, they performed a load test on the battery, it failed (any battery with only 2.15 volts will fail a load test), so they replaced the battery. They didn't perform a parasitic draw test like I hoped they would but if this happens again, I will make sure they do next time.

Another Update 2/4/22: After the dealer replaced the battery a couple days ago, I just got another FordPass Deep Sleep Mode notification. I checked the battery voltage with my multimeter while the car was off and with doors closed, and it read 11.6 volts. So it does look like the battery is draining on it's own for sure and the first battery wasn't just a "bad battery" as new batteries should read 12.6 volts. I have a Mercedes with a 4 year old battery that still reads 12.3 volts with the car off. I'll give it another day or 2, see if it completely dies out again, and back to the dealer it goes...

ANOTHER Update 2/6/22: Went to start it this morning, truck would not start, instrument gauge was on without the key in the ignition and flickering, key fob unresponsive, relays were going crazy and there was a grinding noise coming from the brake pedal area. Battery voltage is 10.1 volts.

UPDATE 2/7/22: Dropped it off at the dealer again this morning, was able to jump start it. When the car started, the check engine light was on and a red triangle light illuminated on the dash. 5 codes were stored in the ECU.

UPDATE 2/12/22: It has been at the dealer now for 6 days with no updates or ideas what the problem is. My service advisor reserved a Ford Ecosport Loaner for me which I picked up today.

ORIGINAL POST:

Well, if it couldn't get any worse, it just did. Aside from dealing with the various rattles of the Maverick and having to fix the tint that the dealer scratched while attempting to fix the rear rattle, over the last 2 weeks, I've been getting FordPass app notifications saying my vehicle has entered "Deep Sleep Mode" because the battery charge level is low. In addition to this, the door open/ignition chime started playing out of a small speaker within the steering column instead of the car speakers. Keep in mind, the vehicle was driven every day and nothing electrical was left on or plugged in while parked. I also noticed the ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) was kicking on sooner and more frequently over the last 2 weeks causing my MPG to drop as well. Probably trying to recharge the 12v battery.

Oddzball has reported this issue as well. I believe it is a VERY BAD parasitic electrical drain as my 12v Battery voltage is only reading 2.15 volts. It looks like it may even be a recall that Ford hasn't found out about yet. If you are getting these FordPass notifications as well or the chime plays through the steering column, it may be a sign your Maverick has this issue too.

...and stop at 7-11 while you are out, pick up a six-pack of cold beer, because you are going to be pissed as hell when you get home and it's still dead!

Hat's off to you for being so patient with this situation, hope it all resolves shortly. Have an hybrid on order, so watching this thread, thanks for keeping us informed.

I had a Ford Five Hundred about ten years ago that exhibited the same symptoms with the battery going dead while sitting. It promptly killed a new battery, so decided to check for a parasitic load when parked. No unusual draws found, but battery still going dead. After much frustration it turned out to be the factory radio had failed. The radio wasn't drawing or turning on while parked, but after a period of time (45 to 60ish minutes after parking) it was sending weird info over the canbus and waking up a portion of the HVAC system. Radio replaced, no more dead batteries. It was a bear to diagnose, so I do have sympathy for the dealer tech's. They may not have a great deal of relevant info. from Ford with the Maverick being a new model. That being said, Ford should be all over this, and making it right with you.

Good luck!

Designed that way! Probably to reduce the possibility of a power surge frying a (5volt ??) computer or something else. The pins under the hood probably have an over current cut out.
Also to avoid battery explosions/venting inside the passenger cabin.

Might have missed it, but what is the draw on the battery while it sits vs what is normal? Seems like an ammeter could at least point you in the right direction pretty quickly.

Quick update everyone. I picked up the my Maverick XLT Hybrid earlier this week, after the dealer figured out a repair for the wiring harness that was deemed a permanent repair by Ford Factory. It hasn't given me any issues as far as deep sleep mode or not starting as of yet.

The dealer says once they can get a new wiring harness (30 to 90 days now) they will have a loaner ready for me to replace the harness that they repaired. I've been driving it since Wednesday and have 237 miles on it now, so it's still too early to tell much else.

On a side note, I did have a weird issue getting I to it the other morning. As soon as I opened the driver door, I got a "Parking brake fault, service immediately" warning on the intrument cluster screen. It didn't even stay up long enough for me to get a photo. After it went away, I started it up and cylced the parking brake, which worked flawlessly. I'm not sure what it was about but it also hasn't happened since.

Sorry to hear, but glad you have the truck back. Did the error look like this? Happened more often to me when cold, and it's in the shop now. Been there for both that and fuel tank for 5 days so far. Was told it was a pressure switch, which of course they can't seem to source anywhere.

No it didn't look like that. It was definitely a red error message like that but it specifically said parking brake fault. Hopefully they get it sorted out quickly for you.

I have read through this entire thread today, and I too want to commend you for your patience. I think I would have been ready to have Ford simply give me back my money and go buy another Honda Fit or something. Already wishing we hadn't sold ours one week before our Maverick was due to arrive and days before we learned it's actually on chip hold for three months. I hope so much that the Maverick will be as good as our Ranger was. But now I'm having doubts.

It is good that Ford is trying to make it right for you. Thank you for keeping us updated. I like the crowd-sourcing aspect of MTC. And you're helping solve this for anyone else who has the same issue.

Can you say something more about your build. Hybrid XLT. Any packages such as LUX or 360 Copilot? Thanks!
