Yeah, reading all these different issues with Mav is giving me cold feet! Ive been a Toyota person for decades an d fortunate to have all great relatable, dependable vehicles. Im beginning to question my judgement with this truck.
Ive got a newer Lexus ( 2021) and three things have had to be replaced under warranty IN THE FIRST YEAR !!!! What a piece of ^%^&...... I wish I had gone with a Hyundai now ........... Im amazed at the responses on this forum of some thinking every new vehicle manufactured will have 100% perfect parts. Holy crap we lost a 2 SPACE SHUTTLES due to defective parts and those cost 444 MILLION dollars each . If you cant deal with a few warranty replacements then you shouldn't buy ANY new vehicle.

Is it recommended to jump starter rear seat battery over the under hood posts? Does it matter?
It’s safer to use the under-hood posts and easier. The idea being, all batteries release hydrogen gas and when they are located inside a vehicle especially in an enclosed area like under a seat or trunk, that flammable and highly explosive hydrogen gas can ignite if your jumper cables throw a spark while putting them on. The Maverick battery is vented through a hose that goes out and under the car so you don’t have much to worry about though. The Maverick has 2 jumper posts that are POSITIVE and one ground post that is located in the rear right of the engine bay (closest to the driver firewall side). The positive post you are supposed to use is located under the red plastic cap. The negative/ground post is just a piece of bare exposed metal coming out of the frame.

Do you belong to a Toyota forum? I'm sure they are filled with all the same type of comments and anecdotes.

"dont buy the first run/year of new line of auto" That was the mantra people said when I said I was interested in the new Ford Maverick

That was a joke - the Lexus and Toyota vehicles have stellar quality but even those have some parts that have issues once in a while. I have not and dont plan on owning any Hyundai's. The Lexus had a catch on the console that broke, a emblem loose and they replaced the rear wiper under warranty without me asking FYI.

Designed that way! Probably to reduce the possibility of a power surge frying a (5volt ??) computer or something else. The pins under the hood probably have an over current cut out.

Update, the new battery the dealer installed looks like it's draining again. I got another deep sleep mode notification and the battery voltage is reading 11.6 just 3 days after getting the new battery installed. The truck hasn't died yet though. Again, I haven't left anything on, no lights on, no aftermarket things plugged in, I even unplugged my genuine apple USB charging cable to see if that made a difference.

Another thing, I thought it was normal for Hybrid vehicles to do this but when I get out and lock the car, I can hear relays throughout the entire vehicle clicking randomly for a good 30 minutes after the car has been parked.

Have you seen my post about the one I'm trying to buy? I'm still waiting to hear back from the dealer.

They tried to resolder the connection but it didn't work. Now I'm waiting to hear back about a new wiring harness. This might be a quality issue on the hybrids. If you look at the photos in my post, it's clear that they are didn't use enough solder in the factory. Maybe you have a similar issue where it hasn't broken completely loose.

Hmm, interesting. No I didn’t see your post before. I’m expecting my car to be dead again by tomorrow as I just checked my battery voltage and it’s 10.1 volts and the interior lights no longer turn on so I’ll contact the dealer again Monday to bring it in. I wouldn’t doubt it if my car had a similar issue. Mine just seems to be a very bad parasitic draw. I haven’t had any electrical issues/cutouts while driving other than the door chime playing through the steering column (my Mav has almost 1000 miles now). Not sure if yours did.

I really hope this doesn’t turn into a big pain in the ass and we have to wait for Ford to redesign their wiring harness and our cars end up getting stuck at the dealer for months, if that’s the case, it’s an automatic lemon (according to California lemon law at least). To make matters worse, there’s a loaner car shortage and even Enterprise/Hertz rental cars are almost always booked.

So this happened to me at the dealer before I even accepted delivery. The truck has 72 miles from factory testing and the dealer running it through their prep, etc. As I was pulling in to the dealer to pick it up, he called me with the bad news, it wouldn't start when they were trying to get it out of the prep garage.

I never accepted delivery and the dealership gave me a 21' Egde Titanium worth 16k more than the maverick as a loaner. It was a serious good faith move on their part so I'm hanging on for a bit. Hopefully I get good news on Monday..
