FORD MAVERICK DELAYS AND CHIP SHORTAGE

Nearly half of all Maverick orders haven't even been scheduled yet.

Have real numbers been published for these things? It would be great to know
numbers for total orders, number scheduled, number produced, number shipped.

Let's be extremely optimistic and say 50% get built by the end of May. That means it took over 7 months to build HALF of Maverick orders.

We can't just assume that production rates would be constant each month. This is a brand new model, the initial production rates will be lower even there were no other issues. Problems (which hopefully won't be repeated) are gas tank and seat belt "recalls" within the production line, that hurt numbers for sure. The biggest thing is the missing parts/chips/components - some trucks were built then parked waiting for the parts. That is another slow down in the processes. On top of that, there were plant shutdowns due to lack of components -two that I read about in the fall. The production numbers of say 6,500 might be only half of the capacity of the plant if there were no constraints.

What's the difference between having a baby and the Ford Maverick? While the Maverick and a baby take eight months for delivery, the Maverick is cheaper in the end!!!

Maybe it is a testament to the economic status of the state of California VS Texas. Chevrolet, Nissan, Toyota, GMCare lots Idrive by almost daily....no new cars on the lot.

I have a more specific question about those orders that will definitely be filled for '22. First Edition packages... are those a for sure for fulfillment? I ordered my hybrid in July and haven't heard anything yet. I have the DORA and all and confirmation email. The question is will they fill the First Editions since they are '22 only option?

Full size spare only comes with copilot 360 on the Hybrid model unless added on as a stand alone option on XLT and Lariat packages...go figure? Correct me if I am wrong.....

I don't believe so. I added the full size spare to my XL base model hybrid as a stand alone.

Consider this though... an African Bush Elephant takes 22 months to have a baby. We'll see if the Maverick goes on to beat that record.

Does the dealer have any control over which Maverick order gets approved/allowed/picked from their allotment? I'm a first-time buyer from my dealership, so if they can somehow control my build priority, I may be in trouble...

They can set your priority as low as 10, as high as 19. The lower the better. You can ask them to make you a 10, but they have no obligation to do so.
