I would like to request if: ANYONE receives a Owner Recall Letter, Call From Your Dealer Service Department, Call From Your Sales Person that the Ford Service Bulletin 21C35 has been released - PLEASE post here so that we "Recalled" owners will get notification that Ford sent the recall bulletin by the end of this month as estimated.

The waiting for the original Build Date was hard enough, but now, I know my truck is sitting at my dealership with the old damaged gas tank in the bed - the waiting for the Ford service bulletin/parts ordering-delivery/tank repair, seems to be harder.
I’m in the same boat. Truck was delivered December 20th and has still not been able to be released to me. No eta and dealer has no eta.

The ford account on here told me to message them here so they could get me more accurate info. After waiting for their response I got “we don’t have an eta”.

This is silly, we all are sitting in a state of limbo because Ford has a failure to communicate and a shortage of planning. I have read all the forums with the plethora of consumers waiting on a promise that amounts to a pile of hopes and dreams. How can a company so large, so poorly handle an issue like this? In the grand scheme, it is a relatively small subsection of vehicles in the recall. If you cannot build new vehicles due to a chip shortage then it should be a simple task to logistically re-route the components needed and required for our repairs. I really just would like to have my vehicle and be able to enjoy it. The "No ETA" reply is a disappointment, to say the least.

There I go again trying to apply logic where there is no room for any.

The problem is it's not just a chip shortage. All parts are hard to get, I'm sure ford doesn't have thousands of extra gas tanks laying around. And no way a manufacture is going to send parts tagged for production cars to dealers to fix sold units. If they did that they would have to shut down a plant and that's not happening

I agree totally! I was SO EXCITED and LOOKING FORWARD to receiving the truck when it landed one hour away from my dealer on 11/1/21 - It has been now 87 days since 11/1 and all excitement and desire for the truck is now gone and now I'll probably sale it IF AND WHEN I do receive because I have a bad taste for this truck. I know things happen and mistakes are inevitable, But, I agree that parts should be redirected to the owners vehicles already sold and the vehicles that have been produced and awaiting repair and delivery. The information train and response from Ford on this massive recall has been nothing short of "crap", and I expected better from Ford!

Actually, I just read an article about exactly that. Ford is talking about stopping production due to a shortage of chips. When I find the article again I will post a link to it. As far as parts laying around, it appears they have known about this issue for quite a while. You would think that by now they would have had some parts shipped to dealers to correct the issue. I am seeing that people have had vehicles sitting since November for this issue, which is not logical at all. Of course, this is just my opinion.

Absolutely correct. Production comes first. With regard to gas tanks, production comes first, trucks on the street come second, unsold trucks at dealerships come last. Been waiting since early November While truck sits idle. No end in sight.

While this may be the model in place as a first-time Ford purchaser it does not make you want to come back for more. Sorry, you have been waiting so long by the way.

Dealers are waiting too...

Swung by my dealer a week ago, mostly to keep the channel energized, also 'cuz it was convenient. Tank recall came up, he said that 1 of the 2 EB Mavericks they received as 'Demonstrators' (in November) was caught in the 'drilled hole' web and that it is sitting in the shop, underside disassembled, awaiting a replacement tank with no ETA.

Heck of a 'Demonstrator', pieces and parts on the floor, no fuel tank, with only "imagine how this looks assembled" to rely on.

My order remains a Priority 10 and the "from thin air" O/U for driving it off the lot remains May Day (May 1), but Memorial Day (May 30) and D Day (June 6) beckon as the next options. Then Flag Day...then July 4th.

The mute button has been engaged, to silence the moans from the 'Thursday Not Selected Again' gaggle and the cheers from the selected...

Has anybody successfully been able to get their tank replaced? My truck (which I bought Oct 30) has been in the shop since Dec 21. I have been in contact with Ford corporate and they know im pissed off. They made some offers to me to "make up" for the lost time with my truck but i'm still unhappy. I went to the dealership to talk with the manager today and he informed me that the fuel tanks are available in Detroit, the just can't order them for whatever reason. He told me to forward that info to the ford representative helping me so she can try to get a tank delivered. Will update once I hear back.

from what I’ve been able to source on here, no. Only ones that were inspected and passed have rolled free.

I put my money down august 1st!And now having sold my car when I was told my truck had reached the dealership, I’m immensely frustrated and stranded.

In the same boat as some of you here. Truck was built 10/9 and after 5 delayed delivery dates finally arrived to my drop ship dealer in Chicago early January (ordered from Chapman in Philly) only to fail the tank test. Ford corporate has been giving me the same weekly "no parts and no ETA" update that my dealer has been. So frustrating. I haven't technically completed purchase of the truck yet, so this has left such a bad taste in my mouth that I might start at looking at other options (Ridgeline?).

The issue has also caused me to check out the issues/repairs/warranty and when i see some of the issues people are having already, it makes me wonder if buying a 1st year model un-seen was a bad idea =/

My Maverick is surprisingly affected by the recall. It started production back in September/October but the build wasn’t finished until 12/21. But it still got flagged when it was delivered to the dealer.

However, I was told by my salesperson that it would only take a few days? So either she didn’t know what she was talking about and I’m in for a long wait, they somehow were able to order the fuel tank, or it’s not actually screwed up at all. Hoping it’s one of the latter two🤞

EDIT: actually, I’ll bet that it’s the one time use exhaust hanger bolt that they’re waiting on (saw this mentioned on Reddit) So I could be in for a long wait if it fails…

Please tell us what happens. Everyone is waiting to learn that replacement tanks can be ordered/are available. And tomorrow is the 28th, Ford’s announced target date to send Info to dealers about how to order replacement fuel tanks.

Will do. I’m hoping that since the build wasn’t actually finalized until 12/21 it’s not affected and the VIN was just flagged because of how long it was in production.
I’m not sure if it was already inspected and they need the bolts to put everything back together or if they need the bolts before they check the tank at all. Might try to get more info tomorrow or Monday at the latest.

Take this bit of info with a grain of salt. I reached out with my weekly question of a status update for my salesman. He responded back with the tank has been ordered and on its way. Hopefully this is true and I will finally get my Maverick, but I'm not holding my breath just yet!
