Does anyone know the exact diameter of the drainage holes that were drilled out? I want to buy an inspection camera and want to make sure it’s small enough to fit in the holes. One I’m looking at says the camera is 9mm.

Edit: I can’t tell if you are kidding or not, since quite a few people on this forum have been confused about hybrids, so I figured that I would do my best to answer. I’m sorry if I didn’t catch your joke.

Hybrid vehicles run on gas, but store regenerative energy in the form of electricity, which is used by an electric motor to supplement the gas engine to maximize efficiency. It’s a hybrid gas and electric system. Thus the term hybrid, instead of electric vehicle. Maybe google hybrid vehicle to learn how they operate.

It was a joke, but thanks for the explanation!

Wow, interesting. I don't even have a build date yet but my Lariat Luxury has it from the factory so I don't have a choice for an aftermarket SIBL. You have to wonder. The company who does this for Ford has to have experience with other models they've done and should know about the potential for this to happen.

No one is going to know anything until the end of January per recall. Not even the dealer. That means no parts until after they get the guidance to order thru this recall. Everyone together, "END OF JANUARY". So if you havent heard anything by February then come back k.
Where in the recall is that information? I’m not disagreeing, I just haven’t seen it.

Ford RMCN-21V976-6998 NEW VEHICLE DEMONSTRATION / DELIVERY HOLD –
Compliance Recall 21C35

SUBJECT: NEW VEHICLE DEMONSTRATION / DELIVERY HOLD –
Compliance Recall 21C35

Certain 2022 Model Year Maverick Vehicles with a Spray-In Bedliner
Fuel Tank Inspection
AFFECTED VEHICLES

Vehicle Model Year Assembly Plant Build Dates
Maverick 2022 Hermosillo May 20, 2021 through October 29, 2021
Affected vehicles are identified in OASIS and FSA VIN Lists.

REASON FOR THIS COMPLIANCE RECALL
Some of the affected vehicles may not conform to the requirements specified by Federal Motor
Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 301-Fuel System Integrity. To ensure adequate drain opening,
Ford’s supplier cleared nine truck bed drain holes that had been filled with sprayed-in bedliner by drilling out the bedliner material. The use of a drill to clear drain holes was not authorized by Ford. The fuel tank may have inadvertently been punctured or damaged from this unauthorized process, potentially allowing fuel to leak onto the ground or fuel odor noticed by the customer. Additionally, the evaporative emissions monitor may illuminate the malfunction indicator light in the cluster. A damage fuel tank could result in a fuel leak during a crash, increasing the risk of fire.

SERVICE ACTION
Before demonstrating or delivering any new in-stock vehicles involved in this recall, dealers are to lower the fuel tank and inspect for damage or holes to the fuel tank below the nine drain hole locations in the bed. If any damage is found in the drain hole locations, the fuel tank is to be replaced. This service must be performed on all affected vehicles at no charge to the vehicle owner. A Dealer Bulletin Supplement will be provided to dealers when parts ordering information and repair instructions become available, anticipated by end of January 2022. Until parts are adequately available, dealers should complete the fuel tank inspection. If fuel tank
replacement is required, the customer should be provided a rental until parts and repair directions are available.

OWNER NOTIFICATION MAILING SCHEDULE
Owner letters are expected to start mailing by January 28, 2022.
Dealers should repair any affected vehicles that arrive at their dealerships, whether or not the customer has received a letter.

PLEASE NOTE:
Federal law requires dealers to complete this recall service before a new vehicle is delivered to
the buyer or lessee. Violation of this requirement by a dealer could result in a civil penalty of
up to $21,000 per vehicle. Correct all vehicles in your new vehicle inventory before delivery.

Some background:
My Lariat lux started production in Sept, finished build in Dec and arrived at the dealer early Jan. Minutes before I head out to take ownership, I get the dreaded call that it is held for the fuel tank recall.

Dealer is now saying the one time use bolts for the tank are out of stock and won't be available until 2Q. This is independent of ordering a replacement tank should they find damage.

I've read posts where people have gotten their Mavericks inspected in relatively short order. Anyone else getting a similar story to mine? I'm sure my dealership is just as frustrated as me as they can't complete the sale.

I plan on checking with my dealer 2/1 and everyday after to verify when they receive the bulletin. Hopefully, Ford won't extend the delivery of the bulletins and these issues can be corrected in February.

Does anyone know how many of the trucks affected by the fuel tank problem were sold and driven off by customers and will receive recall letters?

I would like to request if: ANYONE receives a Owner Recall Letter, Call From Your Dealer Service Department, Call From Your Sales Person that the Ford Service Bulletin 21C35 has been released - PLEASE post here so that we "Recalled" owners will get notification that Ford sent the recall bulletin by the end of this month as estimated.

The waiting for the original Build Date was hard enough, but now, I know my truck is sitting at my dealership with the old damaged gas tank in the bed - the waiting for the Ford service bulletin/parts ordering-delivery/tank repair, seems to be harder.
