Update: got a message from the dealer that the fuel tank passed the inspection, and the truck was ready for sale! I did the paperwork today, and hopefully picking it up tomorrow!

My maverick arrived at the dealer yesterday but they’re in the process of dropping the tank. I stopped by today and the sales guy took me back to the service bay where they had it up on a lift.

Fingers crossed that it passes.

I’m a little concerned about the amount of disassembly required to get at the tank… especially with awd where the drive shaft needs to be removed to access the fuel tank. I suppose that’s what warranties are for… right?

I was able to find a stock order at MSRP - vehicle went into production 09/02/21 but wasn't fully built until 12/20/21. What are the chances that it would be under the recall?

Dropped mine off before the new year. So far I've been in rentals for weeks.

Broke my drive shaft bolts, had to order and wait the long weekend.

Couldn't reuse an exhaust clamp for fear of an exhaust leak... Ford had not released the parts for sale.. Wait a week.

Part was ordered with no eta or tracking. Ford dealer tells me "could be tomorrow, could be next month"

Had the first rental fail on me twice and now on my third car in three weeks. Getting tired of this and regretting Ford all together with the way the dealers treat the customer.

Dealership today confirmed what others have been told. He has no idea when a replacement fuel tank will be available but said I should expect several weeks delay. This means that the lower part of my Mav has been disassembled for fuel tank inspection which it failed, reassembled to move the truck out of the repair bay and it will be disassembled and reassembled a second time when the replacement tank arrives. Maybe they will do the second reassembly right after getting some practice. One interesting additional tidbit. Since it is not yet sold, my order appears on the dealer’s website. So far they have received more than 30 calls from people who want to buy the truck, a loaded Lariat.

Interesting. Mine wasn't listed on the dealer website. I called about another Mav they had them they mentioned the one on their lot and the recall issue. I reserved it anyway haha.

Well like many, my Lariat made it to the dealer and of course, was placed on dealer hold for inspection. Seems mine has now failed said inspection so now we wait as it seems no one has any idea when the replacement parts will come in. I hope it does not take forever, had my heart set on January delivery and now it looks more like February or March. Get the spray-in bed liner they said, it will be great they said!

All of us affected feel your frustration. My original delivery was supposed to be Nov. 7 and it sat at rail yard from that date until Dec 21st. Then dealership dropped fuel tank to show it had holes, and like you I hope for February/March delivery. It sucks.

I guess this is where I can be grateful that I haven't even gotten my build order. Now that they know SIBL peeps caused this problem hopefully I can bypass the need to have it fixed.

My biggest issue with all of this is the lack of ETA, how is it that Ford cannot provide a solid estimated time for these repairs to be made?

If and when someone receives a replacement fuel tank, please post the information. All of us waiting on new tanks would like to know when replacement tanks begin to come available.

No one is going to know anything until the end of January per recall. Not even the dealer. That means no parts until after they get the guidance to order thru this recall. Everyone together, "END OF JANUARY". So if you havent heard anything by February then come back k.
When will we hear something about replacement parts?

I would say there’s a high probability that it could be included in the fuel tank recall. Maverick’s that were built up to Oct 29 are included. My truck STARTED its build on the FINAL day of this recall period (October 29). My truck wasn’t finished until late November. That’s the part that I don’t really understand. We all know that the SIBL doesn’t happen until the end of a truck’s build period but the fact that my truck build period (start to finish) Included a day of the recall (October 29) the system seems to automatically label it and include it in the recall. My Maverick finally arrived at my dealership on December 17 and I was called immediately and told I could pick it up in a couple days.
Recall went out soon after the truck’s arrival and now I’m trapped in limbo a month later.
