Good morning!

I just picked up my Maverick on Monday and am just getting started on finishing my basement. I have a few questions:
  • Has anyone hauled any drywall in their Maverick yet?
  • How many sheets were you able to comfortably fit?
  • Did you put 2 x 4's across the bed for support?
  • Have any pictures loaded up?
I just want to be fully prepped when I make my first run to Home Depot or Lowe's to load up!

Thank you in advance!

I haven’t done it (still waiting on being picked in the lottery) but I think I would put a sheet of plywood on bottom.

This matches what I have been thinking.

Nice!! Not bad at all! Do you guys think it would be advised to use another additional strap to go to the mid point of the front of the drywall, and under to a tie down on the other side, like shown in my MS Paint example?

it is recommended, with diagrams in owner's manual.

I'm no expert, but I certainly would. That'd take all of 30 seconds and would make me feel a lot better when I hit the gas.

Looking at pictures on how they haul plywood I see the overhang being substantial.
Let us know how it goes, but maybe is best to have one layer of plywood underneath as others suggest.or at least some nice 2x4 blocks as close as possible to the tailgate hinges

How did they get so many Mavs together in the wild? Two side by side hauling things, then that looks like a Mav parked in the top corner of the photo.

2 or 3 2x4s under the drywall rather than plywood. More rigidity and less expensive (unless you need a sheet of plywood)

Carried 12ft sheets of drywall in the past with my 3 Door F150 short bed. Less sticking out of the Mav with 8footers. Strapped properly it will be fine.

12 5/8 sheets at 62lbs a sheet. It squats a bit and you feel the front wheels being lighter. Still under the max payload by about half. I used a 2x6 under it in the slot it's 54 inches across so I cut a blade width shorter to fit the board in.

Two straps equally tensioned would equalize the twisting action induced. Probably be best to not over tighten straps as their function is to prevent sliding out of bed. If I remember right the tailgate load limit is 400 lbs in the angled up position. Very rough guess would be 20 sheets max and I would place stacked lumber crossways in bed just inside tailgate hinge to help take load off tail gate after (12?) sheets. Do not have any idea what load limit for the vertical fender wells would be at some point two or 3 additional stacked wood to transfer weight to bed floor would be wise. 29 sheets would be around 1500 lbs, I think.
