My dealer just called, our truck passed the inspection and we will have it monday!

Finally!

Same for me, they will have to pry my Mav from my cold, dead hands...That is my understanding from what I have read so far. My Maverick is under this recall and I donโt plan to bring it in for the inspection until Iโm reasonably sure that Ford has a supply of replacement fuel tanks in stock. I donโt have any sign of fuel leakage or smell coming from the fuel tank area and so I feel safe enough to drive it for awhile before getting this recall performed.
Depending on integrity of your tank, they may have to pry your Mav from your hot, dead hands...Same for me, they will have to pry my Mav from my cold, dead hands...

Here's to hoping that Ford can manufacture and ship the necessary tanks quickly!

Assuming about half the affected trucks do not pass inspection, Ford will need the equivalent of about two weeks of production to replace all the tanks. Seems reasonable to think it wonโt take a long time to get new tanks distributed, especially since not all will be ordered immediately.
Did you get an ETA? I was suppose to pick up my Maverick but, less than 24hrs before, Ford put out this recall. Dealership wonโt release it to me and Iโve been told I have to wait for parts even though they havenโt inspected it.My Maverick was built 10/9 and after having delivery date pushed back 4 times, it finally arrived at my dealer but is part of the fuel tank recall. They pulled the tank yesterday and did a pressure/leak test and it failed. Dealer has zero info on even a rough ETA of when they may get parts in to repair. Incredibly disappointing and continued frustration after waiting all this time. I'm going to call Ford corporate/customer service and see if someone has any ETA of when new fuel tanks are going out to dealers. Someone has to know!
Of course. One would hope that any truck with such symptoms or even a warning light would immediately be taken in to a dealer. (Not that everyone thinks rationally). The problem is the supply of replacement tanks appears to be much less than the demand. Some of us are being told that replacement tanks will be available in February at the earliest. So owners are having to make a difficult decision as to whether to take in a recalled vehicle that shows no symptoms.Common sense please. If it smells, or visibly leaks it needs to go in. If everything appears normal, no smell or leak then I would have dealer verify a tank on hand to replace if necessary. Just my thoughts. Hate to have a slightly damaged tank cause my Mav to sit weeks at the dealer waiting for a tank. BTW I am not recalled foe either one.
Some of the parts that hold the fuel tank in place are single use. So new parts are needed to reinstall the tank even if It passes inspection.Did you get an ETA? Thanks. I didnโt understand why parts were being ordered. Some of the parts that hold the fuel tank in place are single use. So new parts are needed to reinstall the tank even if It passes inspection.
Lots of questions, few answers. Mine failed inspection and is waiting for a replacement tank. No idea how long it will take.Thanks. I didnโt understand why parts were being ordered.
I am curious though how all these people on this forum have managed to get their tanks inspected so quickly when these replacement parts are taking weeks for my dealership to receive. Bad luck I guess.
This is a supply chain problem and is not connected with the recall. Spray in bed liners have had limited availability since probably September. Many buyers who wanted to option a spray-in changed their orders to remove the Ford spray-in and just get an after market job. Quality spray ins are available everywhere. I donโt know if you can order a luxury package without a drop-in bed liner.I just placed my order with my dealer tonight. I ordered the XLT Luxury package which should have included the spray-in bedliner. He said the package listed the drop-in bedliner. I asked him to change that and he said Ford wasn't allowing him to order a spray-in bedliner.
Looks like the recall affected the availability of spray-in bedliners.
I will be checking back with my dealer when this recall comes to a close to see if he can change my order to a spray-in bedliner. I've got months to wait ...
Actually since July. Here is a quote from a July 21 post: โMy dealer called last week to inform me that the spray-in bed liner that I chose would delay my XL order, but he didn't have any idea how long. So I cancelled it, and will probably do a Line-X, or just skip it altogether and buy a tray or mat.โI just placed my order with my dealer tonight.
