Hey Hopkin22-

first thanks for the update! Secondly, sorry you are also experiencing this… the only good thing is there seems to be a large amount of us with this!!…might help get a fix sooner?? So, you have had three dealers fail to find, fix, or resolve any way shape or form? Do they even acknowledge they hear it, but can’t fix? What has been there reply/response? Also, on top of this… I know it’s already a thread, I had the noisy rattle day one, hasn’t returned under the hood/gear selector… it was found to be lower fuel pressure line? Anyways, mine only makes this noise using sport mode???
hey, thanks for your reply! I drove home with the issue. I noticed it on my way home turned around and told the dealer. They made an appointment a few days later. I have since been back to that dealership 3 times. I was told 1.The back seat was. It latched well making the noise 2. It was normal due to high pressure fuel pump 3. It needed a new latch on the speaker. I brought it in they Put a new speaker clip on and the issue is the same. I am making my 4th visit tomorrow morning to a new ford dealer to see what they can do. I honestly want them to just take apart the dash and fox the problem. I’m tired of being pushed off. I don’t have sport mode due to it being the FX4. I love the truck because of what it is- but anyone reading this please note (and I’m ok with this)- the quality is not bad- but it’s not any where near f150. You get exactly what you pay for. For me, I don’t need a f150 that 50k, but I do think a new vehicle should be solid and in tact. It’s something so smal that I think if they took it apart they could fix it.

Agreed!! I am with you on this!! Look this truck isn’t cheap if you are me… yes it’s not 50,60,80k etc! But it’s almost $34k for my truck and I’m sorry but that isn’t cheap!!?? Also it’s brand ducking new!! Fix it and yeah… I hear ya! I’m very interested on the progress you have made and appreciate the feedback… it sucks having to be the Guinea pig… the speaker clip is a new one for me… I did notice back seat rattle noise but not anymore after pushing on seat and messing with seatbelt… saga continues!

…so I drove today, really cold out, tons of ice, snow, and slush… vehicle was very warmed up and driving around… I think it was still there and was more noisy than before…however, it could have been all the ice/snow on the a pillars, windshield, and truck all together… I’m considering an issue with windshield or structural issues??

1.) Could the windshield be interacting with the A-Pillars making noise??
2.) missing or messed up spot welding or structure welds that help with flexing??
3.)dash not having padding between it and other areas of pillars/firewall/windshield?
Either way there is some flexing and it’s causing these components to rub together and make noise!
The saga continues I will try to monitor and source issue, will be going to dealer next week sometime for other stuff… I will post with any updates…

Maybe the whole structural integrity of the vehicle. Being a unibody there may be flexing causing annoying rattles especially when they are coming from more than one place. My full frame frontier has zero rattles.

My 2017 Ridgeline with 69K miles has never rattled. And it too is a unibody truck.

Maybe just 1st production year issues. I hope for everyone's sake Ford takes care of it. I hate rattles.

So… I may have found a large part of the rattle?? Here’s what happened and how I replicated it!!
1.)Highway driving between 60-72mph
2.)Temp 16-12 degrees windy/cold
3.)thought I found it being caused by my leg/knee resting on the black part of door handle/window buttons area! Nope!
4.) it’s coming from the driver side door gray pannel at the speaker!! I was on the choppy road when it did it… I was able to make it replicate by tapping/banging on that area!! It’s the speaker/door panel! I will take some pictures (forgot) maybe the clips are defective and or he didn’t fix it all the way last time?
More on this soon!

Thanks for the update. Maybe adding rubber washers to the speaker brackets will fix it...

Yep, I’m so worn out guys… work has been bad, we are loosing people right n left to Covid, so by the time I got home, I just got out of LIL’Buddy and came inside and in my cozy chair lol… I promise to do some investigation and pictures! I was supposed to be at dealer already to get cover ordered, driver mirror replaced, and pickup my title paperwork…. But yeah that’s not happening this week! Ugh. You guys are awesome! Thanks for helping to figure this out! I think we have some issue with sound vibrating plastic to plastic so “Allen” you probably have the fix at hand sir!

I agree, it might be first year production kinks. I'm really considering not buying it. And it's due to arrive next week.
Allen—

honestly… I am probably thee most sensitive, anal retentive, fussy, wrap the new car up in cotton, what’s that spot, what’s that noise, what’s that smell, person in the whole world!! My wife says you just can’t enjoy a new car lol! Anyways, with that said, I F&@*%*G love this truck!!! Yes we have a couple out the gate annoyances, and of course I don’t want to sway ya, but sir, this has been one of my favorite new or favorite first year vehicles! With the lariat you are getting (windshield, and seats) I think you are going to be good!
*Tell me what you ordered* packages etc.

Yes sir! At minimum it’s a large piece of the puzzle, well for me it is… like I said, I could reproduce it once it stopped for a while smooth flat road, no wind, and between 55-75 speed test, I “banged”/knocked/and pushed/pulled best I could while driving safely, and bingo, baby, it was there! It actually could be both doors guys… duh…but I’m not giving up! Lol

I hear you brother. I like my vehicles to be solid so I am willing to try and resolve the issues. Today I purchased an automotive stethoscope from Harbar Freight in case if I need to find any noise on my future Maverick.
I ordered the Lariat FX4 with all the packages so obviously I'm really interested in finding out what the noise culprit is and sharing the solution with all the Mav owners.

I Love Harbor Freight!!!! Ugh… I’m going to order with my points and 15% discount by the way… soft tonneau cover, engine cover, and window visor’s…(heads up!) when it rains it’s like a waterfall when you open the drivers window!! I have new soft micro fibers in console to wipe and catch until I get those puppies! Hate having a new car in winter can’t get all the things done and protected as easily/quickly! Lol… from one ocd truck man to the next!!! Good luck with your decisions and I think you will love it!
