Engine Cover installed in 2.0L Ecoboost Maverick engine bay (From Escape)

We ordered the F2GZ 6A957 A. I just now ordered a F2GZ 6A957 B. I will let you know if it is shorter as soon as it arrives.

Went out and pulled F2GZ 6A957 A off to compare it to F2GZ 6A957 B. Here is a comparison photo. F2GZ 6A957 B actually has a longer stud and less threads. So I believe that F2GZ 6A957 A is actually the correct part. Maybe its supposed to mount that way?

It’s like a thick rubber material I believe so if it did, idk if you’d hear it

I would assume that you could omit that particular stud if you wanted to. The other 3 studs secure it nicely and its definitely not gonna come off, but I haven't tried it. It might bounce up and down a tiny tiny bit on that corner, but like testa422 said, I doubt you would be able to hear it. The engine cover is thick foam and should absorb any vibration that would create a rattle, but again, I haven't tried it so I can't confirm.

There MAY be a different stud that fits better, but after multiple calls/trips to my dealership and hours of online research, I'm done looking. My goal was to find a new 2.0L maverick/escape/bronco sport that had one factory installed, but I had no luck. Even the dealership parts dept. wasn't much help (weird, right?)

I left mine on because even thought its not perfectly flat, its held down securely on all 4 corners, and I think it still looks good. I mainly wanted it to help keep dust/grime off the top of the engine, which it seems to do. To me, the slight bend up on that corner is not an issue as I have no plans to pop the hood at a Saturday night Wal-Mart parking lot car show lol.

I initially picked up a wing nut for the attachment stud in the upper left corner. But I didn't like having to reach deep into that slot to remove it. And it's hard to reach in there and get it threaded. I ran down to Tractor Supply and found a 1/4" threaded knob. Installed that, and I liked it better than a wing nut. But it was rather flat, and so I still had to reach in there pretty deep and struggled threading it because the interference from the sides.

I figured there was probably better online and found these on Amazon. They are about 1-3/8" tall and much easier to install. Easy reach in to thread on or off, and looks pretty good too. There may be a taller version that could be better. But these were the tallest I found for a 1/4" thread in my search.

That's a good find, but I don't think the cover is something you would take on & off a lot?

I have these parts but no truck. I wanted to do this modification but I was concerned about the supply of needed parts if I waited until I got the truck in hand, so I ordered them and they are part of my parts pile now.
I'll be interested to see if someone else does this mod to the hybrid as well.

Where did you get the blowup image? A similar one for the 2.0l ecoboost likely exists on a FoMoCo parts site... but where?

No. But I definitely want it secured, so it doesn't pop off and land on the belt drive. I also don't like the look of a wingnut as it looks unfinished and jankey. If I am going to spend this much money to make it look better with an engine cover, I want it to look as good as possible.

Another option, it’s what I did, is to use the shorter threaded ball stud and fasten that corner down with it. It is easy to get hold of and it doesn’t stand out above the cover.

Just another option.

I agree with your entire post. Dealers have no idea what you need. So, like you, after spending half of my life figuring out the rear driver side stud FORGET IT. It is secured with (2) plastic ball studs and threaded stud rear passenger…it’s not going anywhere. View the photo taken from the drivers side fender. Sits nice and level and looks great. Also note the close up of the engine cover at the location of the rear driver side stud that is REMOVED. Pay attention to the engine cover cut at fits perfectly against the engine component. Enough said.

Looks great. I love mods like this. I might go for it. My '21 Rogue I picked up 4 days ago also has a naked engine. Once I get used to it, by the time my Mav arrives hopefully March, I may find I don't need it?
