So? The badge says Ford and I bought from Ford.

I don't care whose mistake it was.

I hope this is not the start to a long list of issues.
Absolutely . . . Or where it's assembled!

My truck falls into the spray in bed liner/build date, yet so far checking Ford and the NHTSA site my VIN is cleared. Will check further in January and see if I get a letter, but haven't noticed any fuel spilling or smell driving thus far :D.

I'm thinking the number of trucks with an extra hole in the tank will be very low. Maybe one or two but they have to check them all since the wrong procedure was followed.

If there was a hole in the tank, the Evaporative Emission Control (EVAP) System should detect the problem and set a check engine light. Just like when you forget to put the gas cap on or have a leaky gas cap.
Actually, they are estimating about 2,900 trucks to have this defect according to the accompanying documentation. It shows 5,456 trucks in scope and 53% of those estimated to have the defect. Although it’s not clear what it means to “have the defect”. It could mean an actual hole in the gas tank, or maybe some other level of being compromised.

There is one good point in waiting for my hybrid and that is Ford should have all the bugs worked out before I take delivery

Nice catch, guessing someone on the assembly line put too big of a bit on the machine doing the drilling at some point
Somebody mentioned that they were drilling the holes out to get rid of the excessive sprayed in bed liner to clean the drain holes. I get that a few 100 might have slipped through the cracks but over 5000 come on now Ford

I couldn't agree more with you placed my order back on June 24th the XL changed it to an XLT in November got my build date of 2/7/22, But that's OK they can get all the bugs worked out by the time mine gets around to being built🤞 Everybody's still waiting for a build date keep the faith it's coming

My Maverick has a build date of Jan. 31 and it has a spray-in liner. I hope they fix the issue on the build line before it's built.

Lol .. so if this was done an aftermarket you know that they only warranty the spray in bedliner and not your fuel tank. 😂
A reputable sibl company would plug the drain holes and put dummy bolts in all threaded holes prior to spraying. To drill out the drain holes after the fact is a hack job 4 sure!
