They were never recalled. But that "wood" might be kindling for the BBQ.Actually the Pinto wagons didn’t have the explosion problem.

The thing that was linked is a bed camper, sits in the bed, not something that is towed!I believe that 1,500lbs is Mav's payload capacity. The weight of the trailer and its cargo should not be counted in, except the tongue weight.
You are right. I thought we were discussing towing and did not notice it was a truck camper. The thing that was linked is a bed camper, sits in the bed, not something that is towed!
Bought mine to tow, the Hybrid. Have a 5X8 utility trailer. I am thinking I should be good to go using that trailer and just watching the weight on the load in the trailer.I didn't buy mine to tow but if I was going too I would be buying a small trailer from Home Depot something like 4x6 or 5x8 so that I could carry home improvement lumber and other honey-do stuff that I didn't want hanging out of the bed or scratching up the top of the bed rail.. or maybe a tree-limb dumps haul... So I think I'm good for the 2000lbs rating...
Nice to see that others are figuring it out![]()
Yikes, that thing starts at $23,410! That's about as much as a lot of peoples Hybrid Maverick lol. Looks pretty cool though, nevertheless.Another alternative camper is 560 Ultra from Camp-Inn. It can hold my 3 kids and me in it.

The co-founder, Cary, told me the specific data about my configuration. I can say they really know and like their job from their prompt and detailed replies.

You are right about the price comparing. That is why I am jealous of those guys who can build a teardrop by themselves. However, booking a Mav cannot automatically transfer me to a maker or doer. I am still a buyer in the teardrop market, and it is boiling. SCAMP told me they were "sold out about 24 months right now." In contrast, Camp-Inn is reasonable. And they have some discount.Yikes, that thing starts at $23,410! That's about as much as a lot of peoples Hybrid Maverick lol. Looks pretty cool though, nevertheless.
These start at 1180# and go up to 1980#. Personally I'd stay with the lightest one I could live with.Question for those who know...
I'm getting the hybrid. Are there pop-up campers and/or small fishing boats that will come in under/around the 2000lb mark?
Hey D. I don't even think you can get the 4k tow package on Hybrid. You can get the hitch though! If you tow anything 1k lbs or more with the little Mav on the highway MAKE SURE YOU HAVE TRAILER BRAKES! Maybe 1.5k lbs if you like thrills. You need the 7 pin connector for brakes! The Hybrid Mav won't have that ability since it's just a 4 pin.Just for a perspective....I wonder if the tow package is even worth getting on the hybrid?

Really, the Chevrolet Vega had just as bad a Ronson or Zippo effect as the Pinto 2-door or hatchback. The media didn't want to hit on the beer-can engined Chevy, it was doing poorly enough without the whack on burning as it was. They were never recalled. But that "wood" might be kindling for the BBQ.

The 2.3 really needed a 5-speed to be able to cruise without just spinning the engine so fast.
I liked my wagon, but everyone thought it was an Army vehicle in Dark Yellow Green Metallic. Yellow would have been nicer, but unavailable. Hauled a lot cross country and back as did several who borrowed it to move.

On the towing front. I did tow a Chevy Vega hatch back over the pass between Pittsburgh, CA and Concord, CA. Halfway down on the Concord side, the Vega noted that it wanted to pass, on the left, whenever I braked. No stains, but maneuvering to keep that Vega behind me was a bit tense. Dad and a couple brothers may have helped ballast the wagon. It really didn't have much problem moving all that, but I think stopping distances would have set some record.
