I wanted a small 4 door truck with good gas mileage. I could care less about the transmission but In my opinion driving a Prius and Volt, I am happier it is not an 8 speed automatic.

You read that right, Toyota. 500,000+ miles.
Ford switched from Aisin transmission to
In-house in 2013. Ford introduced a bearing issue that was a design flaw and failures happened around 90-120k miles. Some got lucky in the warranty period others not so much. This was since fixed but affected the 2013-2015 CMAX, fusion, and MKZ. The Escape Hybrid wasn’t in production at the time.
The eCVTs are great but Ford has retooled the hybrid components for the Maverick and this could introduce an unexpected issue like their first in house eCVT.

We likely won’t know for a long time. If any major issues happens quickly the warranty should take care of it. Waiting for the second or third year may not weed out the issue either. So might as well not worry about it.That's the Keyword "Could"
Ford’s ECVT is virtually identical to Toyota’s because the original design was an Isin gearbox!I sold my Commuter car (2020 Toyota Hybrid) and ordered this truck on the 9th. I can tell you if the ECVT works as well as the Toyota you will be happy.
The maverick doesn't have a CVT. It has an eCVT. Huge difference.Correct if I'm wrong, but didn't Ford get in trouble a while back because of the cvt trans in the Fiesta?
Has Ford improved their cvt transmissions?
And similar to fusion hybrid, well proven part. Have a energi with 120,000 mi. So far so good.Ford CVT Problems (itstillruns.com) Ford's eCVT is extremely similar in design to that used on the Toyota Prius. Should be extremely durable. Look at the attached website.
