Wondering how many people are having transmission issues? Went to back into driveway the other evening .. no reverse gear.. drove it to my Ford dealership and dropped it off . Turns out it needs a new transmission , this truck is 5 days old with less than 1 tank of fuel through it.this is my 1st experience with Ford after 20 some Toyota’s … not a great first week . I’d like them to but it back , which I’m sure won’t happen

Not seen alot of issues and it's used in several ford vehicles. If it makes you feel any better my F250 10 speed trans had a leak at 1500 miles and they swapped the whole thing out with a new trans in less than a week after I brought it in. I was disappointed too but I haven't had any issues with it since. Problems happen, hopefully they can get it fixed pretty quick.

If the tranny repair (or any repair) results in the vehicle being out of service for more than 30 days it qualifies for Lemon Law buyback.

I haven't checked into it lately, but it used to require 3 trips to dealer for same issue to qualify as Lemon Law eligible. I lived in SoCal 1962-2017 and don't remember it changing before I left. Maybe they updated it....

One thing to remember with it being such a new vehicle is that your problem may actually be a very small issue. It could be a simple fix, but with it being within 12 month/12K miles (IIRC) they won't repair assemblies, so Ford just sends a new one.

So you may not have had a catastrophic failure, it's just that when things fail so quickly, Ford wants to inspect the part to know why.

They did say they were sending the transmission back , maybe Ford wanted to see it . My main concern is living in northern Canada and often travelling hundreds of miles from any town with no cell service , hard to have faith in a truck that breaks before using the first tank of fuel. Decided to try the maverick for its increase in fuel economy over the Tacoma’s …

I have to say the dealership did get on it right away so far , even though they were swamped they fit it in to look at it … so that it something .

Good morning, can you please send us a private message with your VIN and Ford dealership information? I would like to take a closer look at your Maverick's transmission concern on my end.

Having recently had my transmission replaced, I feel your pain. I made a post\poll on the subject and no traction. Few on here have had their transmissions replaced at various mileage, and having looked this does happen also on the Bronco Sport and Escape with the same 8F35 though it appears to be a small sample size or not many vocal. I took it as a luck of the draw, stuff happens and had the issue resolved. There are many on here with 30k+ miles, tuned, heavy towing that have had no issues so I wouldn't consider it a common issue but more of a one off.

If you travel in remote areas without cell service - regardless of the vehicle used, or whether it's in a vehicle or on foot - you really should have backup methods of communication available.

For example, that could be a HAM radio, or a satellite-connected emergency rescue device. For example, Garmin has a device that will, as long as it has a clear view of the satellite constellation, allow you to send a message with your coordinates for help. You can even connect it to your phone via bluetooth, and send/receive up to 10 text messages per month for maybe $15 USD. If you choose that, research them first, because there are different devices, and they may have geographic restrictions.
