you can't use anybody else's price as even a vague reference point, unless you're in the same city/rural era.

As a broad and often incorrect generalization, the mutual companies (effectively owned by the policy holders) [California Casualty, Liberty Mutual, Amica, etc.] and USAA are lower as a group than others.

When I got a quote form Progressive, Liberty, Geico to get my premium close to Erie the coverage was much worse. Liability dropped from 500k per person to 100k total per accident. Plus 2 of them, don;t remember which 2 required a nanny device. After reading the fine print if it saw your speed 3 mph over the limit coverage was denied or cancelled even if you did not have an accident.

I have State Farm and pay $424 a month for four cars with two teenagers and a liability umbrella. The umbrella and my 16-year-old son make up almost half of that. My Maverick has full coverage and a flat $1,000 deductible for $78 a month.

Yep, when I shopped around for Insurance, the quote I got from Allstate was laughable! Insanely high!!

Allstate profited about $44 per policy in 2025.

ETA if the CEO decided tomorrow to work for free, the company would save about 12 cents per policy.

Mine will be with State Farm here in Ohio. $325 a half a year ... not a month! Been with them close to 20 years. High credit score, multi-everything on the policy, 250 deductible on collision, 100/300k liability, clean record, etc. Very pleased with the rate. By comparison, my son pays $785 a half with progressive.

Deductible on what? Comprehensive? Glass? Collision? The real valuable coverage is liability and uninsured/underinsured driver and medical. In other words when you are at fault is your ASSetts protected?
