Actually most new vehicle batteries are getting only about 3-4 years of service nowadays, with the batteries in hybrids usually lasting a little less. Three years and 38K miles is not bad. We are in the second year with second Mav we purchased, a '25 hybrid XLT, and I will anticipate replacing that sometime as early as next year. Since it doesn't get driven during the winter due to travel it might last as long as four years averaging 6-8K miles per year. Best wishes.
When you're ready, check with Amazon for a H-4 AGM battery. Fits perfect, and takes less then 30 minutes to do.

I had a 1989 Nissan 240SX that the original battery lasted 9 years.

I bought a super capacitor because I won't remember to keep a battery pack charged at all times 😬

My 2023 Maverick gave me 6 codes and would not start about six weeks ago. I used a jump box, took it to the dealer and sold it back to them. That was the third time in less than 3 years that I had to jump the Ford. It was ALWAYS on a Battery Tender Jr.
My 2017 Toyota RAV4 had the ORIGINAL battery when I traded it 6 weeks ago for a 2026 Corolla Cross XLE. It was also always on a Battery Tender Jr. I used the money from the Ford and traded in the RAV to buy the Cross. The Ford lost $10,000 in value in 3 years. The RAV lost $9,000 in value in 9 years. No big surprise there.
I no longer have to worry about whether or not my car will start. Of course it will.

Clearly some have had battery drain issues. Fortunately, my battery gave out at a normal replacement interval.

Last night my '22 Maverick hybrid with 38k miles wouldn't start but fortunately, the jump box I bought on Amazon 3 years ago did the trick to get it started. I bought it because of all the reports of 12 volt battery failures, but I never had to use it until now.

Four years is typical of battery life I've gotten in my vehicles, so it seems pretty normal. I thought I'd post the experience in contrast to the "abnormal" issues. I understand the check engine light is on because I need to do the BMS relearn.

One complaint is the hassle of getting the 12 volt battery out from under the rear seat with all that plastic in the way. I punted and am having a shop do it.

I was relieved the jump worked, because prior to jumping it I Googled the "Stop safely" message that popped up in the instrument cluster when the truck wouldn't start. AI told me it could be something really bad.
Hearing your vehicle start up from a jumper is one of the most satisfying sounds ever, right?

My last battery in our '22 Mav was from Amazon, so I will look at them when I need my next, whether for the '25 Mav or the '12 F-150. Best wishes.

BTW, you mentioned in your OP that getting the battery out of the rear underseat area is a hassle; others have said the same thing in other discussion posts. Not sure why. I removed it a couple of times on our original '22 and never found it to be an issue. I assume that when I eventually have to do so on our '25 it also shouldn't be a problem since the setup looks the same.
Did you remove battery without removing the trim plastic pieces?

The Check Engine light is NOT on because it needs a BMS Relearn.

Nor would you normally get a Stop Safely message - so it was just greatly under allowed limit that modules were complaining, but high enough you got the dashboard lights.
Hence the MIL.

But - since this is a shop replacing and not dealership it sounds like - when you get it home, if you have ability to top the battery off do that, then follow the manual for BS Reset, followed by BMS Relearn.

Since it sounds like getting an AGM now?
BMS will need to know that.
You'll get better charging strategy now.
Though your driving must have helped greatly anyway - so likely no problem.

this is so hot . . . capacitors rule!

and it's good to get us thinking of lithium and how this new craze to electric cars is robbing peter to pay paul.

we wanna get away from petro and its concomitant environmental nightmares but then we sidle up to batteries. batteries need lithium which has to be mined and the least regulated and most contaminating industry on earth is mining

water table in bolivia and argentina is being devastated by slag from litihum mines. of course little brown countries don't matter so who cares if their agriculture is threatened . . .

here's my contribution to world hunger: my ole micro-start. got it for 89 bux a few years ago: it's now 200. zowie

great thread y'all--keep hollerin

Check engine light went off after the battery was replaced. I didn't get an AGM, so I'm essentially back to the way it was with the original.

Of course, the voltage was no longer under a limit the modules require.

Just to make sure you are not associating 2 unrelated things together - that had nothing to do with a BMS Relearn - which doesn't set a MIL.

You'll still want to follow the advice regarding next steps if not done.

Since you got another SLA - check out this thread for Hybrid battery mystery solved - 1st post will help extend the life - my bet is you were already accomplishing what's listed, and/or had long regular drives.

There was a cover on it and the battery just sat inside the compartment. I lifted it up and out and replaced with another. Don't believe I had to remove anything.
