Finally Used the Portable Jump Box

Actually most new vehicle batteries are getting only about 3-4 years of service nowadays, with the batteries in hybrids usually lasting a little less. Three years and 38K miles is not bad. We are in the second year with second Mav we purchased, a '25 hybrid XLT, and I will anticipate replacing that sometime as early as next year. Since it doesn't get driven during the winter due to travel it might last as long as four years averaging 6-8K miles per year. Best wishes.

When you're ready, check with Amazon for a H-4 AGM battery. Fits perfect, and takes less then 30 minutes to do.

My 2023 Maverick gave me 6 codes and would not start about six weeks ago. I used a jump box, took it to the dealer and sold it back to them. That was the third time in less than 3 years that I had to jump the Ford. It was ALWAYS on a Battery Tender Jr.
My 2017 Toyota RAV4 had the ORIGINAL battery when I traded it 6 weeks ago for a 2026 Corolla Cross XLE. It was also always on a Battery Tender Jr. I used the money from the Ford and traded in the RAV to buy the Cross. The Ford lost $10,000 in value in 3 years. The RAV lost $9,000 in value in 9 years. No big surprise there.
I no longer have to worry about whether or not my car will start. Of course it will.

Clearly some have had battery drain issues. Fortunately, my battery gave out at a normal replacement interval.

That's phenomenal. The best I've had was my 2019 Mustang, when the original lasted until 2025. It was an outlier, though. The Texas heat kills most of them sooner than that.

Last night my '22 Maverick hybrid with 38k miles wouldn't start but fortunately, the jump box I bought on Amazon 3 years ago did the trick to get it started. I bought it because of all the reports of 12 volt battery failures, but I never had to use it until now.

Four years is typical of battery life I've gotten in my vehicles, so it seems pretty normal. I thought I'd post the experience in contrast to the "abnormal" issues. I understand the check engine light is on because I need to do the BMS relearn.

One complaint is the hassle of getting the 12 volt battery out from under the rear seat with all that plastic in the way. I punted and am having a shop do it.

I was relieved the jump worked, because prior to jumping it I Googled the "Stop safely" message that popped up in the instrument cluster when the truck wouldn't start. AI told me it could be something really bad.

Hearing your vehicle start up from a jumper is one of the most satisfying sounds ever, right?

My last battery in our '22 Mav was from Amazon, so I will look at them when I need my next, whether for the '25 Mav or the '12 F-150. Best wishes.
