So I must be REALLY stupid as I just bought my second .....

My last Maverick Lariat got totaled after only about 6 weeks
https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/found-pictures-of-my-totaled-maverick-online.71511/

went back to F250 for a while and just decided I missed my little Maverick - so much easier to park ....so much easier to wash.......not to mention better gas mileage .....so picked up a leftover new 25 Lobo High in Velocity Blue - all ready added the rear bed spoiler and Rough Country tonneau cover....window tint next ......will probably lower and add some exhaust at some point as well......(oh yeah had to add an ST badge...I know I know...a little ricer as we would say back in the day but I think it looks cool dang it)

I have always thought Ford did a great jobs with their blues ......

Yea! This dumb guy smiles everytime I leave the gas station!
Well gas has been over $4 in my area for 7+ weeks now. I Haven't paid over $3.37 yet. The joys of having a good range.

I am on my second Dumb Maverick as well. The first was a 2022 Velocity Blue Lariat Hybrid. Sweeeet. The second is a 2025 Eruption Green Lariat Hybrid. I am dumb enough to put up with AWD and nearly 40 mpg. Nice little truck and I love the GREEN Machine!

I wouldn't haul a car on my tandem trailer pulled by my Maverick unless the car or UTV weighs about 1,500 lbs. Golf cart, motorcycles yeah. Altima, no.
My car hauler is about 1,500, leaving 2,500.

Also, my interest at the moment is vey short range--about 7 miles at 35mph.

(I'm still going to borrow something to haul my 1972 Eldorado!)

Not really. 550HP would be closer to net. Today's vehicles are much more efficient. 1,000 engine HP is about 850RW. Sponsored
My "rule of thumb" comes from the changes in reported HP from 1971 to 1972 GM, particularly the Eldorado 500, which was 365 gross/235 net for both years.

I really don't have info for since then, but wouldn't be surprised by a fairly constant drop in number of HP as total power gets high.

I think that’s when we started using Pasa Fino horses over Draft horses for unit of HP measurements.
1972 BHP/SAE changeover. Every major auto manufacturing country has had their own “standards” for measuring criteria which don’t match. In 2005 SAE tied to an ISO standard which helped.

As a random aside, horsepower isn't related to what a horse does. IIIRC, an actual horse can do about 7 "horsepower" . . .

Per James Watt. Originally meant for steam engines but later expanded. He used Scottish Draft horses. Or it was just somebody drinking scotch.

That was the thing.

It had nothing to do with any actual horse.

It did give higher numbers than he would have been able to claim from an actual equine.

I think it let him buy a lot of scotch with the profits!

I didn't mention that I did pull a car with the Maverick on a dolly.

20250621_135844.webp
Nice low CG, minimal wind resistance.
The non 4K AWD Ecoboost could tow that across country with ease.
Dolly and car, 4,000-4,500 pounds, pfft a cake walk.

I missed my little Maverick yesterday. I had to pick up my old Altima about three hours away with my car hauler, so out came the F-350 Diesel reporting for Superduty. When you gift a vehicle to family apparently it comes with a free lifetime service contract. I spent all yesterday hauling mile after mile.

My Waze GPS app betrayed me with miles of a curvy narrow road to avoid construction traffic. Apparently I was not the only victim as this narrow little country lane with 15mph hairpin curves was very populated. I didn't even notice the castle next to me as nightfall claimed it's right and my LED headlights flickered. At 12.3 mpg, I really missed my 32mpg+ Maverick. My 30 minute rest area break near the Toyota plant where I worked for three years was interrupted by an upper body workout of five jugs of last year's emergency diesel being dumped into Mr. Thirsty's tank. A double dose of FORD PM22 additive and off I went.

Yeah, as I grow more plaques in my 62 year old brain, I am getting dumber and forgetful, but buying my Maverick was a surprisingly good decision. 👍 The highlight of my trip to Greater Cincinnati was Skyline Chili and the kindhearted waitress that fed me like royalty. I wore my chili stained shirt like a badge of honor all the way to my truck where I changed. 😆 You should have heard some young college ladies giggling at that site. I must have looked like a pitiful old fool!
@Robot-Wrangler Dude, you should have asked for the bib! Works every time!

I added my mav to my fleet to save money/wear on my other vehicles, I'm doing about a 1,000 miles a week. I have to say when I do drive my other vehicles it feels like a waste now. The mav can't haul the loads nor do the off-road of my other rides but it really does have its place in my life now.
