Mike, you're the next one up for the parasitic draw solution.😉
I wish he and I lived in the same city to make it easier to compare notes.

Not many have his level of interest and dedication to data collection and reverse engineering. 👍

If I want to talk to my stepdaughter in France. I use encrypted WhatsApp.
Sometimes it's nice to actually see and talk to someone with similar interests.
I have helped out a few members while we were both on the phone going through our Mavericks. Step by step.

I had you wrong in my mind.

In my mind I thought you were too old to know how to do that! 😄

And Michigan!
Pretty sure you enjoy some cold months.
Examples like yours is why I think mine has a bad battery sensor.
[/QUOTE yeah bad sensor, different battery software parameters or thresholds, electronics are so much harder to diagnose as opposed to pure mechanical flaws... Somehow back in the good old days an alternator, a battery and a regulator were all that you needed, simple setup, simple fixes and simple diagnostics. Now it's all some big old mess...

Hey I'm the guy who is almost 71 years old. Who doesn't own a PC, laptop or a tablet because I think they're too old fashioned. I want access to the internet no matter where I'm at.
Example: Sitting at the airport waiting for my wife, waiting at the doctor's office because they're always late. Looking up stuff at stores Home Depot gives you an aisle and a bin where the item is.
Of course the camera is always handy.

I have found with modern electronically controlled vehicles there are general rules. But usually some exceptions to those rules.

Made up example:

"Charge the 12v battery anytime the headlamps are on unless it is the second leap day of the year, or if temperatures are above 450 Celsius."

Stuff like that always rears its ugly head. Finding all the permutations and combinations can be challenging.

Great investigation on the unsolved 12v battery issue. I tried the parking lamp option for a more aggressive charge on my AGM. I constantly monitor the amp inflow to the 12v to determine the recharge level. Unfortunately, turning on the parking and/or headlamps made no difference in the recharge amp levels for my 12v AGM regardless of drive time. Oh well …….
Any thoughts on Builder's post?

Volts. Did you look at voltage?

That is what happens in mine.
Headlamps off: 12.8 and slowly falling as I drive.

Headlamps on: 14.3 to 14.8 and trickle charging.
Voltage was unchanged at 14.6 with lights on and off. No joy.

The DC/DC converter is the only thing that can charge a 12v battery.

But it's variable. It can output any voltage it's programed to within design limits.

For whatever reason, it's being told to output only 12.3 or 12.4 volts much of the time.

Doing one of the "tricks" mentioned forces it to put out 14.4 to 14.8 volts ALL OF THE TIME.
I'd like to join the chorus thanking you for your sleuthing. Be it the placebo effect or something real, running brief early-morning errands and then a short commute with headlights on the whole time I immediately noticed a difference in my cig-lighter USB voltmeter. Time will tell.

Have you tested the 'jellyfish launcher' to see if it produces the desired effect? My reflectors are among those showing early wear. Might still try it.

Also, could Ford just, not?? I mean, the optomist would think if we take it to them they'd get right on some kind of ota update; however the pessimists are probably right to think they'd say 'That's the 12V battery, a wearable part. Sounds like a YOU problem."

Ok. Coming right off a Noco charger I'd consider that 100%.

But... a variable... did you charge it attached or with at least one battery cable detached from your truck?

At least in mine, detaching one battery cable forces a battery SOC reset. If you left your battery fully connected to the truck, even though the battery was 100% maybe the truck didn't know that it was?
I charged using under hood jump posts with battery connected. Theoretically the oem bms will count all insy's and outsy's. There could be a degree or so difference in ambient temp where the noco is located and the battery. I think the preferred noco location is touching side of battery. (Not gonna happen).

Good day, @Tall Hobbit

Just a thought on using the "jellyfish launcher" to add electrical load on the system for any extended time.

I have read here on the MTC about some who have used their high box lights (situated with the 3rd brake light) for extended periods and reported that the 🔥 halogen bulbs 🔥 that come from the factory have melted the lens cover!

This is one of the reasons I changed mine out for LED bulbs...more light and more safety.

Again, just a thought on my part!

Have a great day,

Andy
