I'm now into my 5th year of ownership of my 2022 hybrid Lariat with the Lux, and Co-pilot options. With all the electronics in my truck, I decided it was on borrowed time for the flood battery. Amazon has the H4 AMG on sale for $129 without a core charge (36 month battery). I received the new battery, and in less then 1/2 hour I switched out the flood to the AGM. The original battery, still reads 12.3Volts! Sleepy is not sleeping any longer.

Good day @Suzukiridr14

Don't forget to do the complete new battery installed reset of your truck!

And also, before any battery change, fully charge the new battery with a smart and AGM appropriate charger with 4-5 amps capacity! Then do complete battery sensor reset procedure.

I am pretty sure you are all up to date on what to do when you change the battery in your truck, but there are so may others who may not have read their manual, and may just do as they did in the G-O-D and throw in a new battery.

This page will get anyone looking to the right area in the manual when changing your battery.

Cheers

Andy

Would you mind providing an Amazon link to what you know worked? TIA I have a 22 XLT hybrid with the original battery and I was thinking the same thing... It's always gone to sleep after a few days and I just throw it on a battery tender when I know it's going to be sitting there.

I was looking for a battery thanks for the link. However I use the truck about twice a week, which kills the 12v battery in 18 months or less,
The current battery has a shorted cell so stays at a bit over 10v just enough to start, but drops into battery saving mode within minutes. Hope its safe to drive for a few more years, til Ford finds a fix for this problem

Good day @TedTX

Yep, your battery is almost done!

May I suggest what I would do/am doing (as I have a camper van that can eat batteries).

Get the new battery, charge that with an AGM appropriate charger before putting it in the truck.

Carry out a new battery installed in truck procedure as per the manuals direction...BMS battery, relearn etc includes flashing the headlights and everything.

If possible, after that when you aren't using it, throw your AGM smart charger on it...I do this with my camper van as well. I set the charger to the side as I leave and when I get home, on the charger goes.

Life is to short and sweet to fight with depleted batteries, and they are too expensive to keep changing them in 18 months!

Have a good one,

Andy

Don't hold the battery's breath!

Undercharged is purposeful - not going to get corrected.

Curious if those are at least 2 long drives?

I also drive once or twice a week, sometimes I go past a week without driving my Maverick. (Mav is in it's 5th year, with less then 12,500 miles on it) that's why I posted time for AGM replacement . My original flood battery never let me down, but seeing Amazon H4 AGM for $129.99, I decided buy now, or pay around $200 later. Now I'm surprised when I open the door, and the light goes on!

If you have no use for your old battery, Please consider opening it up to see where the electrolyte fluid level is (Caution, it is sulphuric acid!).
I'd like to know if these batteries are being over-charged or under-charged? It may not be the same cause of damage between 22-24, and 25-26.
