The hybrids use a fully electric brake system, so hypothetically if you lose all power you also lose your brakes.
IIRC the Maverick hybrid has failsafe mechanical braking on the front wheels only like Toyota hybrids.

Also IIRC, mechanical braking and mechanical steering are still required at the federal level.

Yep I recall reading about some engineer (from Tesla or Rivian?) complaining about the requirement, a lot of (unsprung) weight involved in the braking components.

If I wanted to test, engine off steering and brakes on my hybrid. How would I go about doing this?
I don't want questions later on like, 'Why didn't you do it this way?'

Good to know. I'm curious how that works with an electrically actuated master cylinder. Do they have a secondary hidden somewhere?

It wouldnt be easy. Without power you will have 0 steering, those killowatt motors they use for steering are HEAVY AF. My sister's malibu was one of the ones affected by the failed solenoids, and I could barely budge the wheel even throwing all my weight behind it.

For brakes, you would have to put the truck in neutral then disconnect the 12v battery to emulate an actual loss of power. I'm assuming the truck has no mechanical failsafe to force the truck in park if it loses power when "on".

The e brake switch electrically sets or releases the brake and doesn't (I believe) use battery while brake is set and power is off.

Thank you for the response. 🤝
The brake portion of it is a a little more than what I want a tackle.
I was thinking I could take it out too a deserted Road get it up to about 15-20 mph turn the engine off.

Oh you could do that, but the truck wouldn't be "off", since modern vehicles still sense all sorts of things. You'd still have electric brake boost, I'd think, although I could be wrong.

I mean you could still try it, throw it in neutral, turn it off, see if the brakes feel any different.

Won't turning the ice off cause the parking Paul to hold the sun gear? (Find the slot at 2-3 mph?). I think the brake has a DC motor that clamps/releases the rear calipers. The parking paul holds the front wheels.

At least he's not like the guy that complained about the seats everyday and was always About to trade it in 😅. By the way, I believe i saw the seat guy on Facebook, Instagram, and Commenting on YouTube. Got angry with those who said that the seats were ok with them even if they acknowledged that each person is unique.
Wow He went on Facebook, Instagram and You Tube and got angry at the people that said the seats were Ok imagine that. :)

WAP! as practiced in certain cultures you love whom you marry not marry whom you love, the logic is you would probably never be satisfied,I had buyers remorse after being stuck with an 07 v6 Dakota, finally I made up my mind and made it mine( kinda like Dr,Strange love) I actually miss the thing from time to time, after my anal service intervals the machine proved quite durable and as far as I know its still on the road, the braking system on it was such it was hard to completely lose the brakes, people used to borrow it in the winter and never wash the salt off on returning it,which caused a bunch of trouble later on,the power tech six was reliable but miserable, had the fuel economy of a v8 with the power of a NA 4 cyl and a miserable so called 4 spd automatic transmission,I vowed never to buy anything again that didn't have an adequate base engine, it seemed Mopar spent money to make it cheap, the bed was only a few inches bigger then the Maverick,Happy with the Maverick? You betcha!

You mean the guy who got upset when someone simply asked about his body type to see if that was anything to do with it, and was adamant that he was "NOT FAT!!!" That guy, who later in the same thread, mentioned he was something like 6'-4" and 325 lbs, but "THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT BECAUSE MAVERICK SEATS SUCK!!!" That guy? :D

Maybe? I noticed that in neutral at any speed regen braking still occurs. I have 1.3 miles I can neutral when coming home during which I have to regen to keep speed down for low water xing.🤗. Will add about 6-7 mpg to my 12.6 mile trip from town.

It's not that bad in the Maverick. I've removed my steering wheel for an upgrade which requires rotating it 90 degrees each direction from straight, and it wasn't that difficult to do with the truck not running.
