I never noticed because I never touch the dash. Because of this thread I touched the dash today.
STICKY!

Can you change your avatar please? So this is a thing? Like, not just because someone used some crappy Armor All gloss shine product that doesn't react well with the plastics and heat? Either way...
Cleaning tips:
Warm water and a microfiber towel. It's really all you need to maintain a clean interior unless you are just greasy and dirty (not saying you are OP, just saying it won't always deep clean greasy fingerprints and such without more effort). Been down a trail with the windows down lately? Invest in an electronic duster that can be recharged, blow everything out with the windows down and doors open, then use a microfiber towel with warm water. If you really want to use something to clean and refresh, use a water based solvent like Aerospace 303. I use that about once or twice a year and it's sprayed on the damp towel already, then I go over it with a dry towel so soak up any residue. Also, invest in some fine bristle brushes to get into the crevice's. A set of brushes and that electronic duster can handle a majority of interior cleaning if maintained properly.
You can also watch some YT videos to get ideas of the tools detailers use (it's a majority what I just described unless they are trying to gain revenue off links you click for sponsored products). A steamer is another great investment for restoration projects. Throw that armor-all crap and any other shiny substance like it in the trash and keep it simple from now on.
I also would think that if it's hot enough and this is some random issue from whatever is in the dash from the factory, I'd ceramic tint the front window. Just seems odd because your pics are pretty shiny and looks to be from something you used?
That stuff is awesome!Same thing happened last summer. I sprayed the dash with Meguiar's Ultimate Protectant and hasn't been sticky since. 303 should do the same.
Gotta be careful tho.I just checked my dash. I'm in the NOT sticky caucus. It's been hot here too, as it is summer here in North America. Also I recently used Turtle Wax Dash and Glass Interior Detailer on, can you guess?- my dash and glass. It looks and feels smooth and clean.
How old is yours?Just over 100° this week in socal and my dash is barely warm to the touch, not sticky at all. I also just got 70% ceramic tint on the windshield and it definitely helped
Let us know what the dealer saysIt’s hot outside. The dash pictured on my Ford XL is sticky. Sticky to the point if you touch it, your fingers get sticky.
This is not normal. A dash should not get sticky. The lighter blue part of the dash is not sticky. Just the darker blue part.
I had a 2003 Toyota 4Runner that the dash started to get sticky after 15 years. If you touched it with a Kleenex, it would stick, to the dash. I tried several topping to stop the stickiness, but the sticky feeling always came back. In 2021, I received a letter from Toyota, that they would replace the dash Free of charge. They knew there was a problem.
Ford there is a problem with the darker section of the dash. The material for this part need to be changed and replaced at no charge.

That's a good point. I'll use something else on thatGotta be careful tho.
Someone sprayed their clear speedometer with something and it clouded up- irreparable.![]()
We old people learned from experience; had or saw too many sun damaged cracked, burnt or warped dashes and learned to attempt to get ahead of potential problems. Sticky is a new one for me on the dash. I have had other vinyls turn sticky like coated gloves.Im going to try this. Dash mats are for old people and im not there yet.
