I'm not sure if it's a software bug or if it rolls over every 24hrs I haven't paid that much attention to it.

yeah, my XL does not have that fancy of display.

You must have something different than I do. I quit resetting my trip to right around 8,000 miles. And this is what my screen shows doesn't show a difference between electric and gas.

Ya - one extra line, which you know they are still logging in a module somewhere, could have been included in the non-Lariat's.
Just one stupid EV Miles is all I want, besides the per trip temp pop-up.

I need to go back to the PID's to see if I can find it, I might not have searched the IPC stuff well.

I have my oil changed about every 8k or so. I just drive it and don't work it too hard except for that long tow to SoCal with the uHaul. I changed the oil just before that trip and then had it changed when I got back.

The bottom line is that fresh oil is always good to have. It is rather cheap insurance against engine wear so if you feel comfortable changing it at 5k, it isn't a budget killer. My 2 cents.

I was thinking for the summer of going to 5-30 full synthetic. Better for the engine.
Use the oil your engine is designed to use. If it’s in the owners manual to run 5-30w
In extreme hot climates do so.
If it’s not specifically stated don’t do it.

And another reason I won’t buy one of these newer vehicles used.

Am Sure if you speak to any qualified technician anywhere their going to tell you NEVER follow manufactures recommended oil change intervals, especially if you keep your vehicle long term.
I did my first oil change at 2k and will be a oil change about every 5k.
BTW my dealer recommends every7500.

Oil today is a lot better at lubricating and protecting engine components than it was in the 70s. Your "qualified technician" is probably from that era and remembers the crappy oil matched to crappy engines with huge clearances. Follow the OLM instead of just changing at a certain mileage, as it takes into account high torque, temperature, cold start wear, oxidation time, etc. that your distance travelled measurement cannot compete with. Its configured to go about 12k/1yr in ideal conditions, and will alert in about 7500 for most people who do not have ideal operating conditions.

Is there any downside to changing oil more frequently than "recommended," other $35-$40 for the oil and filter and a half hour of your time (if you DIY)?
Cheap insurance.
Just my 7 cents (two cents after taxes and inflation).

Simple answer. Small picture.
For just you and your engine No.

🌏 Bigger PICTURE
That depends on where the dirty oil, used oil filter, plastic container's that the oil came in, cardboard box that the new oil filter came in, any plastic rubber or latex gloves that are used paper towel absorbent matting. Where does this all end up?

It would be hard to argue your point, other than the cost and how much you value your

It’s hard to argue your point except you are basically paying double over what the owners manual calls for, and spending double the time doing the job.
I would say it falls into the category of what makes you feel better.
BTW if you can jack the Maverick up remove the 15 torque screws for the panel below the engine, drain the oil, remove and replace the filter then service the oil and put it all back together in 30 minutes you are much faster than me.

In many places motor oil is easily recyclable, and is then used for other purposes, like in pavement, and other oil based products. Using less is still better in the grand scheme of things, but it sure is better for your engine not to follow the extended factory recommended cycles.

I'm pretty fast, been changing my own oil for +40 years.
But yeah, I dunno what Ford was thinking by putting 15 screw on the plastic skid plate.
I think none of my previous vehicles had more than 5 or 6 bolts for the steel plate.

I had the dealership do the 2nd Full Synthetic Oil and Filter change today at 12,914 miles on my 2025 Lariat AWD Hybrid. The technician also did a multi-point inspection everything seems to be in good working order. $135.90 out the door I was there less than 45 minutes

Conveniently comes in a 6qt low plastic bag and meets the specific Ford spec for Maverick hybrids. And always a good price at WallyWorld.
I haven't seen Havoline oil for sale in a Walmart since Chevron took over Texaco.

I dunno about that "For the Life of Your Car" line. Are they saying you can get by with never changing your oil?

But love that "glug-free pour" marketing line.
