I was thinking for the summer of going to 5-30 full synthetic. Better for the engine. You are going to have a hard time finding 0w-20 that isn't full synthetic.

You use your engine 8/10ths of the time? Mine is used just over 5/10ths, and the electric motor is used a lot. Are you doing highway-only driving?I figured every 10,000 miles, gives me roughly 8,000 miles of engine run time. And it turns out to be about a year in length.
Just no. 5W oil will not get to the bearings nearly as fast as 0W during all those start cycles on a Hybrid. 5W oil is quieter, but so is 20W.I was thinking for the summer of going to 5-30 full synthetic. Better for the engine.

Most only see the initial cost. Then there’s the old guys and some younguns who waste oil by changing it every 3,000 miles.wait, someone would WANT dinosaur oil instead of synthetic? Why?
I can get that off the trip meters. I never reset trip2, so it's cumulative since the truck was built.Yep.
Do you have a meter on yours that shows you the accumulated totals EV VS Ice, for say a month or 1000 miles?
Not just the key on, key off individual trips.
You must have something different than I do. I quit resetting my trip 2 right around 8,000 miles. And this is what my screen shows doesn't show a difference between electric and gas.I can get that off the trip meters. I never reset trip2, so it's cumulative since the truck was built.
New trucks with the updated dash. Here's mine at my first oil change. *I did some towing which really killed my cumulative MPG.Ye

I'm using 5w30 full synthetic in my hybrid. I work my little truck hard towing. A quieter engine is the first thing you will notice when using 5w30. When I'm towing, my engine is pulling 5628 RPM up a grade at 70mph. I change my oil between 5k -7k miles. My first oilchange the couldn't even read the 710 cap and put in 5W30 semi. It fired up super quiet and then I looked at the windshield sticker stating that it was 5W30 for the EcoBoost. I had an argument with the service manager about putting the wrong oil in and they finally agreed that they had put in the wrong oil because "all Mavericks get 5W30". Duh!! They did another oilchange and fixed the problem. Now i think they know.
Well, towing you're not going to be restarting the gas engine much so the heavier weight isn't as much of an issue. Yours is more of an edge case.I'm using 5w30 full synthetic in my hybrid. Oh goodie, I love living on the edge, lol. Thank you for the stamp of approval. Have a blessed day!Well, towing you're not going to be restarting the gas engine much so the heavier weight isn't as much of an issue. Yours is more of an edge case.
If you are running near full throttle in the Baja desert, then yes 5K might be the correct interval.@ 15,271 miles second service done by Ford with synthetic oil change and Recommended Synthetic oil change is required every 5000 miles : I was under the impression after it is 10,000 miles 2025 :XLT Hybrid
My First Ford Service at 7500 miles was with standard oil as I was not aware XLT Hybrid requires Synthetic Oil
That's excellent fuel economy for just over 379 MPH.New trucks with the updated dash. Here's mine at my first oil change. *I did some towing which really killed my cumulative MPG.
