It's been just over a week since i got the Defender2s installed. Delightful!
Yep not surprised your really happy with the Michelin's, one just can't hardly go wrong with them imo. In all my old years it's the only brand I purchased for all our vehicles. Never had a complaint with their service life, ride, noise, quality and safety. (Well one minor exception, years ago i did have an old truck just for off road/hunting club use that I keep big mud tires on that weren't michelin).

How much mileage did you lose with the deeper treads and heavier tire?

I went with cross climate 2s when my OEM finally wore out at 50k. Theyve been great this winter in MI. I got a slightly bigger tire than stock for the 18s. 235-60 r18.

I’m putting the M D 2’s on in two weeks.
My Ford dealer is running a sale
Buy three get one free and an $80 rebate that I’ll get in rewards points.

I just saw a set on a 2023 XLT Mav
He had 225 wides on and his tire sidewall edge lined up perfectly with the rims edge.
So I’ll do the same and mount up
225/60R 18’s

Going wider than the rim increases tire squirm under certain driving conditions like in sweepers and switch backs. Like in my Appalachian Mountains.

Had the Michelin Defender 2's on for about 4 months. A real upgrade over the Conti's.

I upgraded to the Defender 2’s on my Maverick a couple of months ago, at 42k. 12k so far on these, very pleased so far. No noticeable difference in mileage. These, and replacing the cracked windshield with the SoundScreen glass made a noticeable difference in noise for highway/interstate driving.

That sounds like a nice deal. Although i would verify the tread depth on the tires from the dealer. We all are pretty much aware that the tread depth of oem tires are usually less than those from normal tire dealers. I only assume that the ford dealers source their tires from the same contract and source as Ford. May not be the case or might be, I'm not certain. IMO it would be worth the effort to verify. I know you will be pleased with Michelin tires. Happy traveling!

I tread depth checked my stock Michelin primacy’s that came on my Mav and then a set in a tire shop, then at Walmart.
All tread depths were the same.

I’ve done this once in the past.
Never found any less tread as long as it was a major tire brand.

I did see that once on a Toyota, forget the tire brand but it had 8/32 depth and on the manufacturer site is said 10/32 tread depth.
This was not verified by me.

So...with everone dogging out the stock Conti's...what did you really notice in 4 months as a "Real Upgrade"?? Quieter....rounder....blacker....LOL    Just kidding of course...but just curious as to what a "REAL upgrade in a tire is. I'm not ready for new tires yet...have the Conti's with 25k still......but I was looking at the Michelin's or BFG Trail Terrains.

I'm looking into getting a set of the Michelin Defenders. Ford has a buy three get one for $1 deal going until the end of the month. There's also supposed to be a $100 rebate but I haven't found anything on it and the service guy didn't know anything about it although it shows up on the quote sheet he gave me. Would this be a Michelin rebate or a Ford rebate possibly? Can Ford points be used also?
