I put a set of CC2's on my wife's 24 Telluride last fall and they have been great with all the snow we got this winter. I put BFG KO2's on my Mav a few years ago and they have been a great tire... except the older they get, the louder they have become on the highway. I will opt for the CC3 next fall.

To each their own. I personally think they're over-hyped. On the subreddit Tires one can hardly get the question out of their mouth before someone says "CC2!"

I don't think they're worth the premium over other all weather tires. I had General Altimax 365 AW on an awd Buick and they were unstoppable in foul weather without any of the trade offs on the CC2s (like getting noisy after so many miles.)

I also personnally like a tire on a truck that looks like a "truck tire".

These are superb tires so excellent in the snow. A 9.0 snow rating is right up there with many dedicated snow tires, BUT my OCD will not permit putting non A/T tires on a FX/4. :fingerscrossed:

I tried the Cross climates along time ago. I’m sure they have been much improved over time.
Mine got really noisy after 20,000 miles. I got rid of them.
Getting the Defender 2’s in a slightly wider size of 235/60R 18 on my 24 Lariat.

My primacy’s are falling below 7/32, and nearing the yellow zone on my depth gage.

The Defender 2’s look like re badged XC LT4’s That Sears sold for decades.
I a got crazy long service life out of those.

How about an unbelievable 190,000 mostly highway miles out of one set. I ran those down to the wear bars. I ran that set on a light extra cab Taco in the 2008 flavor.
I drove it easy like a tractor trailer rig with careful attention to braking, anticipation of future stops and easy peasy in the curves.

And 90,000 out of a set used in mixed driving,
Equal city and highway, also to the wear bars.

Michelin XC LT4 tires, often sold as a Sears-exclusive version of the LTX M/S, are highly regarded for providing an exceptionally quiet, smooth highway ride, and long-lasting tread life. Designed for light trucks and SUVs, they offer reliable all-weather traction and enhanced durability, though some users find them slightly firm.
Well, no wonder you got such good tire mileage.
Ford Maverick Michelin CrossClimate 2 tires fantastic!! 1772919386904-j9

I bought a new set of 225/65-17 (stock size) Michelin Crossclimate 2 tires for a cross country trip I took in mid-January this year in my 2025 AWD hybrid XLT w/4k towing from the PHX area to Boston Mass to pick up a sidecar motorcycle. I was towing a 6x10 enclosed all aluminum trailer (with a 6.5' high roof inside)weighing about 1200 lbs. with the sidecar bike in it (on the way home) the total weight of trailer was about 2000 lbs.

I hit some snow and ice around Erie PA and Buffalo NY on the way but drove through a snow storm on the way home for several hours in Harrisburg PA in the middle of the night. Overall the tires and AWD saved my butt I am SO glad I replaced my OEM continentals for this trip! My mpg stayed the same as OEM with these tires - right around 40mpg when not towing which is my normal mileage. I averaged 21.5mpg for the trip driving 55mph the entire trip with the trailer empty on the way to Boston (about 2600 miles) and loaded on the way back.

The road noise with these tires is less than the OEM Continentals which had 17,000 miles on them when I had the Crossclimates installed. I will most likely keep crossclimates on this truck for the entire time I own it. They outperform the Continentals in every way and of course are better for snow and ice than the OEMs or the Michelin Defender 2 tires I had on my 22 Maverick Hybrid - also a great tire.

Totally agree. I went with Cooper Road and Trail ATs on my FX4. I had Cross Climate 2's on my previous vehicle, a Mazda CX5 Turbo. They were unbelievable in the snow and also handle really well in the dry. Sharp steering.

Thanks for this info - I've got 20K on my Continentals, and plan to replace them with the Cross Climates. Will keep my eyes open for the 3's!
I agree with the original post: CC2 tires work great on the Maverick, and have no noise issues at 5K miles.

Got my Cross Climate 2 tires 800 miles in after a pierced sidewall. Put the remaining 3 on marketplace. Very happy with their performance in winter and summer. Funny I did noticed the PSI after the tires are warmed up in the rear are 1-2 psi less than the original tires. Less resistance I guess or the thick channels in the tread allow air passing through to cool the tire more?

I had them on my truck for a while. Great tire, especially in rain in snow. Then I got some sidewall damage from road debris. After 40k miles, they still had a good amount of tread on them.

The only downside to them is they do a number on the fuel economy. I easily lost 2-3 MPG with them, but it makes sense with the amount of traction they provided.

Same thing on my Forester with the fuel mileage.
I think for the Maverick I am going to either go with Falken Aklimate, or Michelin Defender 2.

Just wondering if you can comment on the Michelin CC2's vs the Defender 2's as it sounds like you've had experience with both. I know you mentioned you didn't notice a difference in mpg on your trip with the CC2's compared to the OEM tires but has that data held up? It seems like the majority of posts I read mention losing around 2-3 mpg average on the hybrid with the CC2 compared to other tires. The Defender 2's seem to be a great, highly rated tire albeit with a lower rating on ice and snow. We are coming from Michelin Primacy OEM tires on our Escape Hybrid and they've been fine so I'm kind of leaning towards the Defender 2's to replace the Primacy's but the CC2's are in the mix as well.

Michigan? id go with the CC2s, unless you have another set of wheels for snows. Last i looked the defender 2s were not Three Peak rated

Oddly, several tests show the CC2's at the top of the heap for rolling resistance. Can't explain the reports of lost MPG. Should be better.
