Hello,
I am new to the forum, thanks for considering my questions here. I have a 2023 Maverick hybrid. It's the first new car I've ever purchased and I know nothing about mechanics. I live in the SF Bay Area (everything is VERY expensive here), and my dealership said that in order to keep my warranty current, I need to complete the 30,000 mile service package. They quoted me $2,560.95!!!!! Yikes and wow. I asked if there was any leeway regarding the work to do and the price. So they printed up a list of three service package options with the cheapest coming in at $1,904.95. They said if I go to another mechanic to make sure they use Ford brand fluids and implied the warranty may be void. I have attached a picture of the service quotes.
My questions are:
1) Which items listed are necessary?
2) Does this price seem reasonable? If not, what range is more appropriate?
3) Is it okay to hire a cheaper mechanic for this work?
Thanks so much!

If you have 30K on your truck, then you only have 6K to go on your factory warranty. It seems to me, that you have been keeping up with your oil changes, and had very few, if any problems. Just keep records of your full synthetic oil and filter changes, and have your local mechanic advise you if something else needs attention. Show him the list that you showed us, and ask what he thinks is necessary, and what is just add on garbage.

I can't thank everyone enough for your helpful replies. I figured the dealership was scamming me but after reading more I see how bad it is actually is. I've written to ford corp to let them know.

Also, I found a great local shop, and I had them:
1) Rotate tires
2) Change oil/filter
3) Change cabin air filter
4) Change brake fluid ( I drive up and down steep hills all day for work)
5) Do a multi point inspection
This all cost $600- for my area, this is the going rate.
I may get the transmission fluid changed earlier than the 60,000 mile mark because of how I drive my vehicle.
Again thank you, this forum is worth its weight in gold.
Might want to see if your dealer or other local place has service specials, or maybe even going out of the Bay area might be worth the drive in savings. Those are exotic car service rates around here.

As for changing the brake fluid and coolant, you can get test strips for a couple bucks at AutoZone or Amazon.

The actual engine and other powertrain components has a 5 year/60,000 mile warranty. So he still has a way to go on that.. If it's a hybrid, the transmission and other hybrid specific parts have an 8 year/100, 000 mile warranty. But it is a good idea to give it a once over to see if there are any pending issues on the 3/36 bumper to bumper components

I always get a kick out of reading all of the oil change posts. I like that several people on here have said following the manual is the way to go. Then, of course, you have other "experts" who say after the first 1,000 miles, then every 5,000. You should ignore what Ford says because "I've been doing this for 100 years, and I know more than the Ford Engineers"

Sadly - the engineer's aren't on their own when the maintenance schedule is done.
They likely aren't the last to approve it either.
Sounds like you think they are, not a good assumption anymore.

Marketing has fingers in it.
CAFE standards group for sure does.
Corp exec's will.
Attorney's in the mix. (whole manual)

Ties into the OPs sticker shock with some unneeded services, but one of the reasons manufactures have made the oil change interval longer and longer is so the first buyer feels they are getting more value with fewer $80-120+ oil change services. At least Ford uses a semi-intelligent monitor that adjust the interval according to driving conditions, and many people have done analysis that show it's accurate.

Honda and GM as well. I didn't trust the Honda "Maintenance Minder" at first, so I changed the oil every 5,000 miles. Then one day, I was like, might as well give it a go. I went over 10,000 miles before I hit 15% oil life. Changed the oil and Blackstone said I could've done another 2,000.

Anecdotally, my coworker had nearly the identical Honda as mine at the time. His prompted for an oil change every 3000 miles or so. Main difference was that he drives two miles each way to work. At the time, I drove 50 miles each way to work, which was basically 48 miles on the freeway at a steady speed and a mile on either end. Pretty sure his oil wasn't even hot by the time he parked.

Then there are those who swear that there's a conspiracy where manufacturers intentionally want their engines, transmission, and other major components to fail shortly after the warranty is up , so people will have to perform MAJOR repairs at their dealership or buy another vehicle. But when you think about it, that theory makes no sense. If a person buys a vehicle from a manufacturer and that vehicle breaks down and needs an engine, transmission , or other MAJOR component shortly after the warranty expires, that person is LESS likely to buy another vehicle from that same manufacturer. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Even the 30K check up on my Lexus RX350h (2023) was quoted at about 600.
