That would be great to see. Thank you.
The Mylar makes it appear shiny in the pic (though I don't notice it at all), black duct tape would get rid of that if it bothered you. I used it to thicken the cardboard, so it wouldn't move around or slide down.

I just folded it over between the vent and the plastics on each side and this particular rattle went away.

EDIT - maybe small half round molding, with a slit, would do the same but look better...

Sorry for the delay in following up.

Could anyone who has identified and mitigated their rattle please listen to this and give me your opinion on which of the many possible sources this might be?

Original video was about 3 minutes long, but I cut out 80 seconds or so for time stopped. This was a particularly cold morning at 19°F, car had been driving for maybe 6 minutes before I started recording.

The noise vaguely sounds like it's coming from somewhere inside the front console / dashboard area, usually the middle, but it's hard to really narrow down exactly which direction it's coming from.

You can see pieces of mostly dark foam I stuck in between the window and dash which obviously did very little or nothing. I had even tried sticking heavy paper between console panel seams to no avail (since removed).

If this is the windshield guide post sound, it doesn't sound like it's coming from up high... but again it is hard to locate. For those who found success by trimming that piece off, did your noise sound like it was coming from up high or from somewhere in the dash as well?

Does anyone have an idea of what the source of my rattle is based on how it sounds?

Good luck on that! All 4 of our mavericks had squeaks and rattles. I think part of it is the material used to make the dash. I’ve had our 24 into dealer and they tightened everything up and it was better but still has noise. We even found that a water bottle sitting in cup holder will make strange noise. We’ve just learned to live with the noises.

Sounds more like a tick to me. I would put my money on the windshield alignment pins.

Another thing you can do is pull on the black windshield defrost vent on the driver side to see if that stops it.

I did try to apply pressure in 4 different directions on the vents, it didn't seem to make a difference.

So could it indeed be the windshield alignment pins even if the tick seems to be coming from down low?

Crazy just now finding this thread and seeing 34 pages and having this same issue. I have had no idea why this weird rattle was showing up and how, what caused it. It's been annoying me but I just put the music up loud enough to ignore. Cheap plastic I guess?

Yes, likely the pins.

Hi!

I've read the whole conversation, and for me, the best way to remove the windshield guide pins was the following:

1) Remove the plastic trim from the A-pillar.

2) Locate the pin.

3) With a utility knife extended to its maximum length, cut the adhesive between the glass and the pin base.

4) Cut the tip of the pin with pliers.

5) With needle-nose pliers, gently bend the metal plate downwards and, pushing with a screwdriver, the whole piece comes out.

It definitely doesn't serve any purpose.

Greetings from Argentina!
