Hasn’t even been a year. I bought a custom 2025 XL from the factory last January. If you want to see my introductory post, read this:

https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/pics-review-of-my-‘25-maverick-xl-hybrid-velocity-blue.60475/

Well, it’s now totalled. I got rear-ended while yielding to oncoming traffic by some teenager in an F250. Didn’t seem like a total loss to me at the time, but that’s what we all thought, right? The unibody of the Mav can’t withstand much impact.

The upside is I’m not at fault. And I will get a new 2025 very soon with the insurance settlement. I’m planning on upgrading from an XL to XLT. I won’t have to get new wheels again, or add the bed tie-downs. I’m also looking forward to having push start and keyless fob. But…obviously I’ll miss my old Mav and wish this never happened. What is the deal with Mavs getting rear-ended? I know there’s a post about this but it’s just ridiculous!

He couldn’t even drive away from the accident scene because his truck had too much front end damage. It didn’t LOOK like it. The impact was only about 10-12 mph. But there must have been unseen damage inside.

Meanwhile me and my Mav were able to drive home no problem.

Hello @MavMeister25

As much as there have been posts here on our trucks getting rear-ended, it is my thought that every vehicle gets rear-ended.

I think it is the other distracted, inattentive etc drivers just not doing what they are supposed to be doing which is driving safely.

I have a question, did you have the flashing LED 3rd brake light installed?

I changed mine and it strobes several times before staying solid red...I also installed brighter LED bulbs for the brake and signal lights...again, they can only work if the driver behind you has their eyes on the road.

I will be looking forward to when you get your new truck (and post pic's of it here, of course!) and am thankful no one was injured...trucks can get replaced.

Have a good 2026,

Andy

Sorry that happened, I’m glad you are safe.

All unibody vehicles are designed to crumple like your Mav did to limit energy transfer from the impact on passengers in the vehicle. While it sucks the Mav is totaled you likely felt far less of the impact as a result.

Wow crazy that really doesn’t look bad from the outside.
Too many folks still updating their Facebook or TikTok lol
I know I’m very conscious of a car being behind me or not — the tailgate def obscures the rear view mirror day and night. I tend to drive with one eye on the mirror from driving Army convoys lol.

There is a privately owned car lot nearby that has hundreds of cars and they are all rebuilt titles. I wonder how difficult it would be to straighten those rails and get it inspected by your new inspector friend. I bet there is lots of money being made.

There are two posts on here in previous threads. The rails under the bed are made out of boron steel it cannot be straightened or heated. It has to be replaced.
Here's a good example.

On September 30th 2024 I started keeping an informal tally about Mavericks being a cracked windshield and rear end accident magnet.

Erh - it's not the Mav's fault; it's the driver that rear ended you.
I heard the 2026’s have a collision avoidance feature. When the rear camera recognize impending collision it will signal solenoids to raise the suspension to avoid rear end collisions allowing the approaching vehicle to pass underneath. Also handy for rush hour traffic.
