In the category of doing what is obvious, RAM's CEO scores an easy win.

Is it a Maverick (unibody) competitor or a Ranger (frame) competitor? Regardless, it's bad enough I put up with Ford's crap. No way I'm dealing with Stellantis.

Their new US "Hurricane" turbo four has 324 hp. I'll be curious to see this next year...

They've been posting "Dakota comeback" stuff for at least 10 years. I'll believe it when I see it. The problem with the Ranger and probably the Dakota is they're priced so high, they bump into the lower-end models of the F150 and full-sized Ram. That's why the Dakota went away. That, plus an abysmal durability record.

In 1979 I bought a new Dodge 4x4. When talking to the salesman, he said the warranty covers most anything, just bring it in, they all need something fixed -- except the imported (I think D-50) they never have anything wrong. How times have changed.

I owned 2 Dakotas previously. The first lasted 250,00 miles before I totaled it in an accident. The 2nd has 325, 000 miles on it when I traded it in. The only thing I did to either was a new transmission in the 2nd one at 200,000 miles. Despite their reliability ratings I had super reliability with both. The only knock was mediocre gas mileage. I can only pray my 2025 Lariat Mav is as reliable and has as long a life.

I would seriously consider buying a new Dakota, bought one new in ‘97 and had it till I retired and bought my Mav in 24. Never a problem with it and the 318 5 speed 4x4 at all! Just curious about the new mileage compared to my old one 🤔
