There is greater demand for the Maverick hybrid than the Maverick EB. So, if there isn't a Ram Dakota Hybrid, then they will just be chasing their tail and adding another cute little gas guzzler to the unibody pickup lineup. From the link, it is a nice looking truck.
Depends What you want? 2.0 is hardly a gas guzzler. If your only worried about gas mileage then that's one thing. I've yet to see a hybrid on the east coast where I am. Some guys don't even consider a 2WD a truck especially where you need AWD. I would still buy a hybrid if I could get one.

The Ram Lamb won’t dethrone the Mav. The best thing about the Mav is the design both inside and out. It’s 100% unequivocally still a Ford truck by design. Not a weird looking car with a short bed. Ford resisted the urge to make the maverick appear to be things it isn’t and other brands won’t. Ford highlighted its other Ranger and F-series trucks by launching the Maverick as there is literally a truck for everyone. When the hybrid AWD Mav is out these other “competitors” will be in the mirror.

The good thing by Chrysler was the 1964 hemi
My favorite "muscle" car was my 1970 Dodge. 383, 4bl carb, Positraction rear end. Loved it and it would fly. The picture here is like mine except mine had white leather interior.

Ram has had nothing in the market to fill that bill since 2011.
I sort of remember that being a huge thing when it happened, too. Something about "We're doing away with all the small trucks because we only want to have the biggest, toughest trucks on the planet!" Or something like that.
Price and MPG are the big sale points for the Maverick, Ram doesn't have either.... Just clickbait for the online mag.
I don't think anyone's going to have price. The Maverick barely does.

What the world really needs is for new cars to go back down below $10k. We've got a huge sector of the population that's forced to go from shitty used car to shitty used car, because that's literally all they can afford. If someone could get a new car at that price point, it'd sell out overnight and all the predatory used car dealers would have to look for something else.

Dunno if "the market" wants that sort of thing, though. "The market" only seems to ever go for high- margin.

Under $10K for a new car?? Dream on. Even the tiny little Smart FourTwo was about $15K when it was selling and most ran higher than that. I 'm delighted that Ford was able to get the Maverick down in the low $20K area but wonder how many will actually go out the door in that range and how long they will be able to keep prices at that level. If they can't and my Maverick never gets here, I'll be forced to just keep driving/fixing my '03 Sport Trac or buy one of those $hitty used vehicles you're talking about.

Have to wait see what they come with. The links just show a bunch possibilities. Nothing for sure.

Under $22K and a Hybrid. Anything else and it's just another face in the crowd and no competition for the Maverick. As gas goes higher, the hybrid looks better and better. Wish I had mine already!
I'm driving a Fusion Hybrid until my Maverick shows up, and every time I check KBB, the price goes up! It's crazy but perfectly ok with me. At this point, my 6yr old Fusion is going to pay for over a third of my Maverick. :)
