I had a 2003 Dodge Dakota XLT 4X4. It was a very solid truck and served me well. Only downside was the 15-18 mpg in a midsized truck! That said my 1990 Ford Ranger was also a great truck. Comfortable great ride, great gas mileage, but was the slowest vehicle I’ve ever driven (almost dangerous on the highway). My point is all manufacturers have good and bad products. Sometimes it’s a model sometimes it’s a generation of a model.
Was your Ranger the 4 cyl? I had a 91 4.0 5spd. It was a rocket all the up to 100mph(not much after that), but I could chirp the tires power shifting into 4th gear at like 60mph!

Yeah it was a 4 cyl 5 speed manual. Perfect for getting around town and hauling loads! Going uphill on a highway was a different story all together. Go 90 downhill so you could go 60 uphill. 😂

I wonder if they're chasing the "We can't get your Maverick built for over a year" crowd?
... with their "we'll just add a complete new assembly line to an existing factory in Mexico so we can import into the US without the 'chicken tax' to be price-competitive" AND we're going to do all that AND deliver vehicles for sale THIS YEAR...

In today's highly constrained supply world, they think they can get all the tooling, molds, etc. done in time to not only get a factory set up, but hire and train people to build the Rampage, and actually DELIVER vehicles in the US THIS YEAR?

As Bugs Bunny used to say, "It is to laugh!"

After watching an online add for the "small" Ram truck, there was an add for the Ram all electric truck that is supposed to hit the market in 2025.

"We expect the Ram 1500 REV to start around $58,000. For reference, the electric Ford F-150 Lightning currently starts at $59,974. And like the Lightning Platinum, a fully loaded Ram 1500 REV Tungsten is sure to top $100,000."

Like the Ford Lightning EV, which was advertised to cost in the mid $50k, ( I have not seen one for less than $88K ) the Ram EV will most likely be in that same high priced category. Glad I go the Mav hybrid.

Yeah that motor started out with 85 hp. Yours may have broken 100ph but had to use 8 spark plugs to do it!

Know matter what the competitors bring out if they don't offer a hybrid at the same price as the Maverick then they will not sell as many. Also the Maverick will be getting refreshed about the time the competitors start coming out with something. Ford will be wining the small truck game for the foreseeable future.

If reports turn out to be true that the Rampage has the 2.0 Hurricane engine and 9 speed ZF tranny and my Maverick never materializes then I would give it a good hard look for sure.

BTW chaps that same 2.0 Hurricane engine and ZF tranny in my wife's Cherokee gave 35 mpg on a trip until I installed Falken Wildpeaks on it as the OEM Contis sucked. We now get 32 mpg trip, 25 around town. If I can pull that off on my Mav after installing Falkens I would consider that a win.

I was under the impression (from what I was keeping tabs on the Rampage) was that this was going to be the Ranger equivalent. As I am not great with Ram / Dodge vehicles, I do not believe they currently have a mid size truck. So I do not feel this would be a direct competitor to the Maverick if in fact it is Ranger sized. Look at the Chevy Montana truck, that I feel is the Maverick size, this seems bigger.

Wouldn't buy a Dodge or Ram or Stellantis or whatever it is now called, particularly without the hybrid available.

clearly about 2/3 of Maverick Owners disagree.
You mean agree. Only 21% of current orders are for Ecoboost. 79% are waiting for a hybrid.
