Because there is only one USB port ( an a C port) on the Maverick and that I already use this port for a USB stick with my music on, I decided to buy and to use a small USB hub to have more ports available.
It works very well but I get a message telling me that USB hub are not supported on the maverick and that I need to remove it.
I used it for about 30 minutes without visible hill effect.
What could happen if I keep on permanently?
Would I smoke something?
Any idea?
Thank you.

Phones and tablets using USB A and C ports. The 2 C ports for the rear seat ( for the dog) are already used

The only problem would current draw for having too many things plugged in. You can also buy C to A converter to put inline.

On our 24 XLT we installed Siriusxm and it uses the USB port at the front. We found that only the two in the front communicate with the system. The back ones are strictly for charging or power.

My 2025 Lariat does not work with my USB Hub (1 in / 4 out). The rear USB ports are only for charging (No Data). I have a Portable SSD (Currently 500gb) I use for my Music (MP3 & FLAC) playback. I want to be able to Hide my Portable SSD under the dash but need to figure out how to connect to the Maverick USB Wiring that will allow Data. I would Prefer USB-C as the Data Transfer rate is faster. If anyone has removed the factory USB panel to see whats behind and how the factory USB ports are connected to the wiring harness If you can share your findings would appreciate

1 port, 1 device limits the port to the 1 device maximum ccurrent draw standard..
By adding a hub.. especially an un-powered hub; you now have 1 port 3-4-5 devices and can suck as much as 5 times the power and that will overload your port like a National Lampoons Christmas Vacation , Christmas tree..
You'll start smelling cat fur sooner or later...

Look, I joke that modern vehicles are just computers with wheels, but that is a joke. The USB ports are mainly for charging and for allowing your phone to talk to the radio for CarPlay/Android Auto.

USB has a current limiter; it won't output more current than it is rated for. So, all that will happen is your devices will start warning that the charge speed is too low.

I guess I am not the only one to try this craziness to add a USB hub to the truck. I am mostly trying to get a power distribution but I got this one from Amazon. I dont really care about the High Speed and it was pricey @ $25. I chose it for the 12V input, the port orientation and slim form factor. Obvious downside now that it is in hand, the supplied cable for the input is USB 3.0 A on one end (not a problem) and USB Micro-B into the hub itself with a helper connector. When I had the console apart, it looked like the input to the USB on the cab interface was regular micro.

I intend to mount it to the back of the glove box along with a small fuse block and relay so that all future accessories act in harmony with Radio Power.

I also got the USB Hub not supported on the screen during a test fit and then gave up. But now I think I will press on and see if the nagging can be ignored.
