I have pretty much maxed out my USB ports in the Maverick so I added a small hub for expansion. I plugged in a small Mabett fan as part of a cubby hole mod and it worked perfectly. About a day later, a message popped up on the Sync screen telling me USB hubs are not supported and I should remove it. Yet, the fan works perfectly. I cancel the message, but it pops up periodically. I wonder if the Maverick is trying to tell me the port and its fuse partner might get overloaded. The only other cable plugged into the hub is a phone charging cable for a passenger. Have used both at the same time without any issues, so I have to wonder why my Maverick is chastising me.

The Popup message refers to not supporting Data over USB hubs. Power to run low powered accessories should not be a issue. Just don't overload in Amperage draw.

Do you have backseat USB you could use for fan?
Thanks for the suggestion. Yes. I probably should have mentioned that I use one of those ports to power my cooling seat cover. I like to leave the other one available to any back seat passenger. I don't think the fan's cabling would that far anyway.
By the way, the cooling seat cover worked great with the recent increase in temperatures. I have the faux leather seats which are not as porous as the cloth found on the XL/XLT models.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm thinking "data" would mean an association with a computer/phone, but I'm not transmitting data over the connection . . . just power.

I don't have an answer on why you're getting the message but you could try using the 12V plug instead to run your fan with something like the product below.

I went with what I had on hand.

But your suggestion is a better solution. I have one in the cigarette lighter, but it doesn't have as many ports.

Thank you! I ordered it. Worth not dealing with the message.

**UPDATE** I started a return this charger/adapter because it would quit powering the fan after a few minutes. I substituted a different one that I had on hand to check to see if it's the port or the adapter and it worked fine, so looks like the cigarette charger/adapter is defective. The adapter I used to test the port protrudes too far into the storage bays below, so I ordered a more compact one.

I know . . . seems like a lot of trouble for such a minor convenience, but I guess I'm a bit OCD when it comes to my Maverick.
