Sadly, (or in this case not very sadly ) I cannot recall ever even being in an Edsel, so no idea where the horn trigger is located. My comment was intended in jest.

Edit: Just saw the dash pic. Gotta love that "space age" rotating 3D speedometer, and of course the 5 integer digit odometer...

As far as not needing to let go of the wheel to honk in your car, you can do that in the Mav.
Just use your thumb to press on one side of the airbag explode module to activate the horn.

It sounds so terrible with the way you explain it..
You just press right next to the thing that could cause the most violent single sided pillow fight strike you could possibly experience.

Mom's 1979 Fairmont was like that as is my 1983 Mustang convertible....to honk the horn, you need to push the turn signal stalk in. Also there is, at the base of the steering column near the steering wheel, a button that needs to be pushed in to turn the ignition cylinder all the way off to remove the key from the ignition. Fun story, the girlfriend took the Mustang convertible out of the garage one day while I was at work to get it ready for a nice after work cruise....she was freaked out because she could not get the key out of the ignition cylinder and thought she had broken my Mustang....I reached in, pushed the aforementioned button and took the key out....she was so pissed.....lol.

My Chevy Volt had 2 horns. The regular one activated from the steering wheel and a polite pedestrian horn that was activated by pushing a button at the end of the turn signal stalk.
I liked that one for when you wanted to gently advise people, who we're paying more attention to their phone that the traffic signal was now green.

I like that one when you wanted to gently advise people, we're paying more attention to their phone than the traffic signal.

So, my 1974 Ford Gran Torino Elite (long since sold) had a "rim blow" steering wheel. My mechanic would call and tell me there is something wrong with the steering column as the car would randomly honk while they were moving the car around the shop....I stopped in one day while they where pushing the car around and one of the guys was reaching in from the driver side through the window opening and tugging on the steering wheel....each time he tugged on it, the horn would honk...he did not realize it had a rim blow horn steering wheel. On his 1974 Thunderbird. I remember thinking that it was a bad idea then because if the power steering went out, the driver would constantly blow the horn because he had to really grip the steering wheel in order to turn it

That setup removes a lot of complaints of accidental shifting.
Pretty hard for the dog, cell phone cable, wife's purse, driver's leg or flailing hands to accidentally bump it out of gear.

Here's a picture of the Ford Edsel dashboard & steering wheel, with the center transmission selector buttons and the 2/3 Chrome horn button.

It was not electric as I remember but had cables that push the lever on the trans. That was many moons ago, so feel free to correct me if I remeber it wrong. I think there was a Chrysler that had shift in the column. (?)
