I have a 2025 XLT AWD hybrid. Twice now going thru the car wash truck has come off the rollers.

My past 2022 xlt hybrid never had this happen.

Like with my 2022 I put the truck in neutral and low.

Im wondering if putting the 2025 in low is the issue.

Any others having this happen?

Yep, putting it in L is the problem. Must be in neutral. Are you perhaps tapping the L button because of the message on the dash? Ignore that, as it pertains to leaving the vehicle in neutral when exiting, otherwise the truck parks itself when you open the door.

Always N only in a car wash.

Thanks, in the first generation Mav it needed to be in neutral and low.

I can't be bothered to wash by hand.
I only use Tunnel Car Washes and I've never had it happen. I put the truck in neutral never touched the Low button. Roller or conveyor style, it pulls through the tunnel just fine.

Having not owned a <2025 Maverick, may I ask what it would do if you did not use L? My expectation would have been the same, but not having driven one I don’t know for sure.

The message when you put the vehicle in neutral is IF you’re leaving the vehicle. Opening the door and physically getting out while the vehicle is in neutral.

If you are remaining in the vehicle while it is in neutral there is no need to put it in L and that could be the root of OPs issue

I have a first generation Maverick it does not have to be in low to be pulled through a car wash.
As a matter of fact it says when you shift into neutral 'To stay in neutral when exiting the vehicle select L button'
Although I doubt that is the reason it is coming off the rollers.

If you press L while its in N I assume its engaging the transfer case to keep the vehicle from rolling which can add enough resistance to have it jump the rollers. Otherwise idk what the point of that message is if its just gonna put itself in park

Okay I googled 2022 hybrid maverick instructions how to take thru car wash. It does say put truck in neutral and in Low.
So sounds like putting in low is not needed now

Only use N for an automatic car wash. It's the same for any vehicle, just like a stick shift.

With the Maverick, when you open the door while stationary and in any gear selection other than P, the truck will automatically shift into P. It's a safety lockout essentially. That's why you get that message when putting the truck in N; if you truly want to leave the truck in N and get out, pressing L after shifting to N disables that safety lockout.
